I would equate them to Michael Flynn, who when served our country as a military serviceman did so honorably and with distinction. Then the second he took off his military uniform, decided to become a despicable human being and sell out his country.

Conservatives don't like Kaepernick because he sat/knelt during the national anthem, which they perceive as disrespectful to the military. Kaepernick was not alleged to have sat/knelt through anonymous sources - there's no mystery as to whether or not he did that. Trump is simply alleged to have done this via anonymous sources, turning it into a classic "I believe it if I don't like him, I don't believe it if I like him" story.

If Obama was alleged to have said this via anonymous sources, the MAGA crowd would believe it, even if reported by mainstream media, and liberals would decry it as a piece of bad journalism.

Exactly. I couldn’t care less either way, but people are going to believe what they want to believe and latch on to any source that confirms what they want.

Both sides do this. Progressives love Bill Kristol now because he's a Trump critic, but he was public enemy #1 during the Bush years because of his Iraq War advocacy.

How about as butthurt as Bolton was about Trump even he didn’t give a corroborating account.

Perhaps if they had informed him of the plan before his book went to print? I mean ...this did happen in 2018.

Trump's public constant horrible statements and public constant brazen lying give this legs.

As subjective statements go, "Trump is devoid of empathy and only cares about Trump" is as close to inarguable truth as you can get.

Still, while we know now that people who go on record quoting Trump lose their jobs--hell, Billy Bush lost his job just for hearing Trump say something horrible--these folks should absolutely go on record and add a few more straws to the straw mountain on the back of what must be the strongest camel ever born.

No it sounds like even as much as he hated Trump even he didn’t corroborate an event from 2018 which apparently was “widely known”. Hey at least he’s on the record!

Again. If they had just let him in on the plan before the book went to print... lost opportunities
