Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

Dude you are killin me. You are in defense mode and can't do anything but spit out childish responses. Forgive me if you are indeed a child.

You're right. Thank you for adding this to the conversation.

"Maybe you could try to relate your vote for American Idol to the coaching search as well?"

Maybe you should try to quit following the masses and think for yourself.

Just because I think you make absolutley no sense at all doesn't mean I am not thinking for myself. I actually like Kelly as our next coach, but Kiffin and his staff would be just fine with me.

Dude, like a said, just look at the resume. What can I say?

Recruits that UT hasn't seen in 10 years (Leinhart, Bush, etc.) One of the most dynamic, powerful offenses. Jumping from a college OC to and NFL HC, is impressive by itself. Just may have been too much, especially being under Al Davis.

His resume looks damn good to me. Also, I'm not a Hamilton fan, but give the man credit. His hire with Pearl was, come on. If he doesn't feel they won't succeed, he will not hire him. I'll trust his judgment over someone who just called a stranger his child on a message board.

This one has made me laugh.. complete opposite ends of the spectrum here.
This is what i get out of it.
some of the people here want valid reasons why 5150 doesn't think Kiffin would succeed at UT other than 'he just won't'.
While there really aren't any reasons why Kiffin would not succeed here, there really aren't any reasons to say hey would succeed here.
People can say he did so well at USC etc etc. I have noticed that USC is still winning without him. And they were winning before he was OC.
Don't get me wrong i'm not taking anything away from him. I'm sure he's a good coach. Just dont know why some on here think he is a guarantee to win at UT.
The only way we'll ever find out is to make him HC and let it play out.

Good point. Makes a lot more sense than "He won't 'cause I said he won't"

I know the recruits and offense wasn't all on Kiffin, but what was Kiffin doing at USC if he wasn't a good coach in the first place?

Wow it all makes sense now. Go check out Vols5150's posts from September.

Please do. I stand behind it all. I don't show up mid-thread and denouce everything "ridiculous" because I disagree.

Sad part about it, even those that support Kiffin admit it is a huge risks. But you couldn't be honest enough to admit that.

Oh no doubt in my mind Kiffin is an excellent coach.
I'm just not ready to bow before him.

I was a Leach guy. but after that last game i dunno.. The guy refused to change his game plan.
In the SEC that just won't cut it.

I'm leaning Kiffin now.

Please excuse my lack of time machine?

I never said your opinion was wrong or ridiculous; I said you had zero evidence to support your claim.

I just wasted 20 mins of my life reading this thread....Kiffin is better then Kelley because he has been exposed to bigger games and bigger arenas as you would say.....kelley was at Grand Valley State and did well there because there are NO NCAA d1aa teams so it's just GVSU and Michigan....when he went to CMU he took all the players that normally would have ended up at GVSU and they went to CMU....now he is at Cincy and winning in the big least conference....Has kelley ever recruited down south??? Don't think so Kiffin would bring on Coach O and we would have 2 of the best recruiters in the business that would go head to head with the Sabans, Meyers, and Richts of the world no more battling UNC,VA tech, and Tulsa's of the world

...And thats how you argue a point. Somebody here should be taking notes.

Yeah i agree.. Kelley makes me queasy. I definitely wouldn't mind Kiffin and Big O.
how long til the turnaround? 2 yrs?

At least 2 years Kiffin gets his players in here....I mean just think about it those 2 would have the biggest recruting budget in the country!!! To go with their already recruting prowess!!

That's one really good thing about Kiffin. Even if he failed, or left for another job in the near future, he'd leave the next coach quite an arsenal. You could say the same for Butch Davis.

That's what i was thinking..
but i do believe he could have a high probability in getting a surprise victory (UF, or Bama) in his first year.

True,
The good thing about kiffin(well as i see it)
is he would make a change on our offense more toward speed. This is desperately needed.
