That totally sucks. I hate cancer. Liver cancer is what got my dad.

Damn, Chadwick Boseman aka T'Challa died. He apparently had colon cancer and was shooting films between chemo sessions. Thinking about all this unrest and one man who through his roles really helped humanize black people to people who may not have encountered anyone outside their own culture or color passes away leaving us all the poorer. Especially at this time, we need more Chadwick Bosemans in this world not less.

And for anyone who didn't know, the scenes in 42 that took place at the long-departed Ebbets Field in Brooklyn were shot at the old Engel Stadium in Chattanooga. I was living there when they shot it in 2012 and it was quite the thing. I remember driving by many times and seeing the big green screen constructed over the outfield wall. Lots of locals got roles as extras, playing everything from ballplayers to fans in the stands, sitting amongst creepy mannequins that filled in the empty seats.

Ugh, another weird connection to today, having watched the Dodgers earlier this evening with cardboard cutout people populating the stands....

I hope it doesn't get worse. I have a bad feeling the coming election has the potential to rip the country completely apart...no matter which way it goes.
