Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

Bayern are playing way better right now, this could get ugly.

I am excited to see Leeds United play in P.L. Not necessarily a fan but I am intrigued by their history with Don Revie and how Brian Clough's inability to live up to Revie's legacy led him to Nottingham Forest where he built his own, arguably greater, legacy.

Apparently, ESPN has the US broadcast rights to the Community Shield match but will only stream. The same was true for something else I tried to watch recently, maybe the FA Cup. Why in the heck, in a time when there is a dearth of live sporting events to broadcast, would ESPN not broadcast Arsenal v. Liverpool? I know it's conspiratorial, but I am starting to think that ESPN is purposely trying to quash interest in European soccer because NBC Sports and Fox Sports hold so much of the US broadcast rights.

I could understand if it was Blackpool vs Wigan but these are two of the most famous and storied clubs in England. Liverpool is probably the best team in Europe over the past year. I think you’re on to something about them not wanting to increase interest in a competitors product. I mean this is ESPN after all, who promote a team or player much harder if ESPN owns the rights to them.
I’m pulling for the day when Fox Sports pulls past them...
