Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Crazy busy now, as we are finally seeing all the "normal" stuff that hits every fall. I've never seen it get this bad this quickly, and I assume it's due to everyone's immune systems having basically no challenges for 6 months.

Schools have lost their ever-loving minds -- sending kids home for any of a laundry list of vague symptoms. I'm doing my part to try to get them back to school ASAP.

The consensus from parents thus far is certainly that the virtual learning option is a disaster and a joke. It sucks to think how negatively-impacted the education of millions of children is going to be this year.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been rolling around in the mud and not wearing a mask.

Any chance it isn't increased prevalence - just increased sensitivity to illness by schools/parents?
Oh, definitely. I've seen kids for a 99 degree (normal) temperature, 1 episode of diarrhea, heartburn, mild headache, etc. Nobody with a right mind (and a copay or deductible) would ever go to the doctor for that crap.

Ha! We've had sleepovers, pool guests, dinners with friends, vacation at the beach, Bible study, and even (gasp) singing in Church all summer. I haven't missed a day in the office yet, 160-ish days of making kids scream, cough, gag, and vomit. I would say our "exposure threshold" has been high.

Sounds like a post night of binge Drinking and Taco Bell
One of the heartburn kids was an overweight teen who claimed to have eaten "a whole bunch of donuts" before his symptoms. Sent home with demand from the school nurse for a COVID test. Nope, get your a$$ back to school!

I did that once with a dozen DD Boston Creams when Carter wuz prez and did not regret it and never went to a doc... but I had to run about 50 miles after the deed was done.

Can the kid get back in school without the test? The broad powers given to school nurses and the BOH might be a little out of control with their demands.

So far, we've been successful, as long as I write a signed note that kids don't have symptoms consistent with CV infection. There's some variance between different school districts, too. I'm nervous as to how Knox County will handle things, as they have been slow to open and have a few outspoken Chicken Littles.

in our school it is all about presenting symptoms. This even goes for the kids who may have been exposed to the positive test of a teacher
