Supply and demand could make ticket prices skyrocket for those who aren't season ticket holders. Wouldn't surprise me to hear about people doubling their money on Ebay.
So what do you think a TA&M fan would pay to come to Neyland knowing it'll be 10 more years before they come back?

Just a note to those who opted to attempt to get tickets... if you carefully read the wording of the email, it seems the allocation process will not be based on TN Fund donor rank ALONE. It‘s going to be the same “reward big NEW donors” first...then go to Fund ranking. This is a change they made a few years ago when assigning parking spaces. They created a tier system (1,2,3) based on your CURRENT annual donation and then used your TN Fund rank to rank you within the tier—for example: if you are a donor of 5k per year, but have only been doing so for two years, your Fund ranking might be 5600th. However, you’d get preference in parking over someone ranked 1700th who gave 2500 dollars annually—but had been doing so for 30 years.

I am familiar with the process because it happened to me. I have a 1702 ranking because I’ve been giving for so many years...but was booted from my parking spot (of 12 years) by a new donor whose FIRST TIME contribution exceeded my annual donation—even though their Fund ranking was 5600+. First world problem, I know. Anyway—the opt in for tickets alludes to the same process. Here’s the quote: “Seats will be assigned based on Tennessee Fund membership GIVING and rank.“ You will note “giving” comes ahead of ”rank”. Giving and rank are not synonymous. IOW, the same process as parking assignment—-a tier system based on current giving level—-and then TN Fund ranking WITHIN each tier.

Lol, let's roll with that and have a little fun in the midst of uncertain times. What would be your "cool name" for option 4? I'll hang up and be thinking on mine....

**Here's mine** Fair-weather-friends...lol
Both of my kids will be asking for refunds...

I wanted to go with "Defund the ...." but I couldnt come up with the last word.

I may be way off, but if the season is still roaring in November and both A&M/Tennessee are "good" the cheapest single-game ticket is going to be over $1k.

For what it's worth, though, they are still slated to visit Neyland in 2023 and I don't see that changing as this year is more of an anomaly than something that will affect future scheduling.

While I got a letter because I'm a donor, my mother didn't because she has grandfather season tickets with no donation. I opted to try and go but since am so low on donation have no idea if will get anything. My adult son only wants to go to black jersey game if we have a choice. It was originally Ky.

I deferred to roll over my donation and ticket costs to next year. This isn't even a hard choice for me. And I live just south of Chattanooga. I'm not going to waste my time driving up there just to get a few games and breathe thru a mask in this heat for hours. Just not for me. I'll wait until next year and not have to worry about my renewal. Now I can also sit and drink all the beer I want for a fraction of the price at the stadium and still watch the game. :p

I understand your position. I live in South Carolina---but spit my tickets with my son-in-law in Johnson City; so we opted for tickets. BTW, not that it would impact your decision, but the email from UT said that masks are only required to be worn while entering, exiting and moving about (bathroom, concessions) the stadium. That implies that the seating arrangements will such that no masks are required while viewing the game from your seats---and there may be a caveat that your seating companion be a family member (though I have no idea how that'd be determined or enforced?).

True. And I have no problem with that. The mask thing in public really isn't an issue for me. I more or less just don't wanna keep up with it and remember to put it on every time I leave my seat. #masklazy lol But my seating companion is usually my spouse.

I love going to games and truly believe that this will be a watershed year for Tennessee. Although I have been a VOL fan my entire life, I bought season tickets primarily to watch our daughter perform in the Pride. Since there will be no march to the stadium, no pregame show, no halftime show and limited band member participation, I will probably do the same. Another poster said 'This will probably be the year that they win a National Championship'. If my luck is involved with it in any way, they might be right...

I’ve been wondering what the band status has been this year. I saw a fb post of Fulmer talking to them and they were on the practice field so I guessed they had some sort of show.
As a former POTSB member, the experience of being in the group is incredible. Hard work, long hours, but so worth it.

They should do a formation where a corona virus particle smashes into a face mask.

This interpretation is 💯 correct. Will start at Gold Victor then the ranks within gold then moving to Silver Victor and so forth

If you have basketball tickets and roll it all over then you lose your tickets for basketball for this year. They will let you roll the portion of donation over what your basketball requirement level.

That's a little screwy. But I get it.
What's to stop that "money is no object" person from coming in and writing the big check and jumping to the front of the line? Of course nothing, and Fulmer's plea of yesterday made it sound like (as Jeff Foxworthy said) UT is "Macaroni & Cheese and Suave Shampoo" broke.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that "butts in seats" isn't near as important as it once was. Isn't TV revenue so high that it barely matters? I think the lack of fans hurts Knox county more than UT.

This article is a couple of years old, and still staggering in the numbers:

And, because of Covid, most WILL be watching on TV this year. So that revenue stream isn't drying up unless the season does.

Word is they will only be on your phone and non-transferrable as I understood.

You mean you didn't want to donate it all? 😁

True saints people that go option 1.

I wonder if anything has been released regarding student tickets or if they're waiting to see how many people opt in through this. I can also see the band not being in the stands if they get a big enough response from season ticket holders wanting tickets.

Good thing I don’t have basketball tickets then

So like what's wrong with donating it all? That's what we did cause we aren't able to attend any games due to husband being a cancer survivor. We felt it was the right thing to do.
