1. If you play 12 games Spring 2021 and the normal 12 games Fall 2021 total 24 games in 9 months (March-to December 2021) do you really care about medical health of
the players? It's $$ & pending lawsuits.
2. Do Seniors that were locks for NFL (like Trey Smith) play in the Spring with Draft happening?
3. Will the teams that do play this Fall 2020 be at a disadvantage for 2021 season with the incoming EE Freshmen getting to play for these teams in Spring & Fall of 2021
, while SEC teams etal will be doing Spring practice?
4. I can see where they could use this as a recruiting tool. Play with us get 2 years of play out of the way quickest path to NFL.

For lots of reasons, I just don't see playing spring college football, unless it's the normal spring practice and inter-squad game.

Excellent points of question.

My non-expert opinion is:
1) Seems like they’d have to make schedule changes in 2021 reducing games or pushing back the season a month or two.
2) I’m sure the NFL Draft would be pushed back a little, but there would surely be opt outs but Seniors who are secure in their draft position.
3) That’s the wildcard here. No idea what happens if some play and some don’t or they play at different times. can’t imagine very many EEs seeing the field though without a Spring practice to figure out what’s going on and get in the weight room.
4) There will have to be accommodations made as far as eligibility and scholarship limits since the season would run into signing day and early enrollment. Maybe grant everybody an additional year and increase the limit from 85-100 for one season.

It's all about the NFL...for now. I think alot of folks are writing the NFL off. Lose a good portion of the fan base, then we will see.

What i don't get is the reports say the Big10 schools are still having practices. How is that not a NCAA violation if they're not having games? Also seems odd that contracting Covid is a threat to the players' hearts during games but not during practice.
Practice? We're talking about practice?

If the Big XII/ACC/SEC (plus their respective G5 brethren) play football this fall, even just several weeks per conference, you won't have to worry about early enrolees double-dipping on action in 2021 because you'll have absolutely neutered the Big Ten/MWC/MAC/Pac-12 from playing spring football. Either the fall season is cut short due to myriad problems, which of course wouldn't be solved in time for a viable spring season, or everything goes off without a hitch and the conferences who postponed suddenly have to deal with the realities of a minority of teams trying to simultaneously play fall/winter/spring sports mere months prior to the next fall season.

It makes zero sense. None whatsoever. Kevin Warren is an empty suit.

And the Big 10 commissioner is apparently too ignorant to see that point.

My thoughts on your points...
1. February-early May leaves nearly four months between seasons. That is plenty enough time off between seasons for 18-22 year olds. I think the NCAA will have to be more flexible with regards to medical redshirts and such for the kid who tears up his knee or achilles in game 2 or the spring season, and then is forced to miss both spring and fall football, essentially two seasons to the same injury.

2. Many seniors and surefire high draft picks will opt out. Some already had at the prospect of a fall 2020 season, so that wouldn't be a surprise. The NFL would obviously have to adjust their offseason schedule to accommodate spring football, anyway. Combine would need to be pushed back to late May-early June. Draft in late June-early July.

3-4. I think the NCAA would likely have to rule all mid-term enrollees ineligible for a spring football competition season to maintain consistency across the board with all member schools. Allow them to practice with the team just like they would in a normal spring practice, but not be eligible for competition until Fall 2021.

Teams waiting until spring should not be allowed to practice in the fall. If so they gain an advantage of more practice time in the spring with that schedule.

Another concern, especially for BIG10 teams, is weather. Spring ball means playing in January, February, March, & April. Lots of snow up north during that time.

I think they'll play Fall or not at all, but just saying they do play in Spring, I think the only way you do it is play less games, like the 10 on the slate now, and for 2021 Fall season, push back the start to October, and play less games like on regular season schedule thru end of Dec (a throw away month anyway in CFB) to give more time between spring and fall slates.
