fear of litigation drives a lot of decisions coporations/organizations make in regards to handling "people issues". making a strategic decision in the course of doing business or direction of the organization is one thing.....making a call on whether or not we should open up in a situation like this has the potential to be an organization ending problem IF things go the other way.

i'm not advocting for or against any one action here, just saying that if you don't think potential liabilities from players, fans, universities, employees, etc, etc, etc.....aren't in play here, you're ignoring a really big picture isssue.

and just "blaming leadership" is short sighted. we're not talking whether or not the SEC should add or remove a team and being scared of the fall out from that...or negotiating a new TV deal or something.........

I didn't say I didn't believe liabilities were in play. Certainly they play a part. There are liabilities on the "do nothing" side as well. Those get little play in the media, but they exist.

I don't believe I "just blamed leadership." I asked when someone who was charged with providing leadership would simply make a decision and stand behind it. Kicking the can down the road in the name of waiting for more information is not leadership at all when it becomes your only answer. Making that observation is not short-sighted.

Some of us have obligations which require us to lead daily and make these decisions which carry with them all these liabilities to which you refer. Watching others who are charged with doing the same attempt to finesse themselves out of potentially having to shoulder any blame if the "fit hits the shan" is nauseating. There are long-term implications of all of this that could easily make the potential legal liabilities an after-thought. I'm not advocating the irresponsibility you must have taken from my post. My point is there's a much bigger picture than lawsuits and those considerations have to supercede risk aversion at some point or else things will reach FUBAR status if they haven't already.

Yay, another supposed grown up who doesn't have the stones to put his foot in the ground and be a leader. Much better to hide behind excuses like false circumspection and "consideration for potential legal issues." Where is Al Wilson when you need him to knock the $h!t out of some folks and get something done?
