Brett McMurphy source: College Football Season is Done

There won’t be college basketball either

If there’s no football season, there will not be a basketball season. You’re exactly right, Cmac.

This is precisely why there will be a college football season this fall. Juggernaut programs aren’t going to go eighteen months without generating revenue, and I don’t understand how this seems so incomprehensible to many in the media.

People STILL seemed confused about the nature of viral community spread. NO ONE is arguing that college athletes’ health is in imminent danger because of COVID. But by participating in a sport like football that increases the chance of athletes becoming infected, you thereby put the larger community at risk because of the ease of spread. It’s the non athletes that athletes will invariably spread it to that makes everyone nervous. Why can’t people understand this basic concept?

We should have a vaccine by January although I doubt we are back to any sense of normalcy till 2022 this virus isn’t going anywhere. I had it back in late April I got the mild version I shook it off after 5 days but I’m still worried about the long term effects it might have on me and will I get it again.

Oh, I get it. I still say we live in the new paradigm of life + COVID.

If we can’t do this, we can’t go to school, can’t go to work, etc.

It’s going to suck this fall without Tennessee football but I’ve been prepping myself since June. Told my wife I’ve accepting it now so I won’t be devastated in late August when they cancel it. Btw the last fall we didn’t have football was way back in 1943 during WW2.

I called it back in May that we wouldn’t have college football and got crucified by some people for saying we wouldn’t. There is just too much risk for the universities and now more kids are getting long term health complications from this virus and some little kids are dying. Thanks China!!!! for ruining 2020 for the whole world and killing college football the whole world owes you a ass kicking.
You called it in May, but joined in July.

She might be devastated for different reasons when it is cancelled....

Yes, a lot of people are arguing that college athletes' health is in danger.

It is also not a given in the slightest that playing football will put the community at a greater risk of the spread. Even if it did it would be in a very minute way.

Here's why. Say they are playing Auburn.
Everyone on the field would be going into the game having been tested extensively, to the point where there would be little chance that a player would be running around the field positive with COVID.

They would be outside where the virus rarely spreads.

They would be at worst playing someone without symptoms and people are not very contagious when they are asymptomatic.

Not a very effective breeding ground for spreading the virus.

Before they would even play a game, they will be tested vigorously and they will be more incentivized to stay away from people that are not on the team. Because of that, they will all be less likely to fraternize with nonteam members.

Even if they still do hang out with people, there's no way that they wouldn't hang out with people if they banned the season. Young people are the ones primarily responsible for the high case totals. Through partying and stuff like that.

We have five million cases without any football being played. A case total that is not nearly as high as it is in reality. The CDC estimated a few weeks ago that the real total is 6 to 24 times higher than the numbers suggest. That's anywhere from 30 million to 100 million people.

It's already out in the community spreading as we speak and there's literally no way to stop it.

Sorry, but playing football is not a greater risk than the young people already partying it up and consequently spreading it to the community. Or all the other work activities and shopping or going to restaurants that spread the virus.

If you are a player and get the virus you will learn that you're positive as fast as possible. You won't even have time to spread it to the community. I think at worst they will test every three days, but likely more. So at worst you have three days to get it and spread it and since you're going to test positive so early, you will be asymptomatic and they are hardly contagious!

There is a defensive tackle at Clemson that will probably miss the season due to COVID complications. It’s an outlier, but severe cases in the young do exist
Not entirely true...you conveniently left out the part that he was asymptomatic, but also caught the flu immediately after. He gained 10-15 during quarantine and isn’t in shape.

Tell the entire truth next time..

That’s bc he got fat and gained 15-20 pounds.... Dabo said it would better to red shirt bc he didn’t think he would be ready to play bc he is currently out with strep throat....it’s not like it was bc of covid complications

Things more deadly for than COVID: Spanish Flu, Political parties, the kardashians, Dan WOKEns Twitter. We persisted through all of these so I still have hope for fall football.
