2020 Presidential Race

It’s really not that hard to understand.
My father is 82. He’s going through some serious dementia issues right now. In the last month it’s gotten so bad he’s being evaluated to see if he will be allowed to return home.
His behavior was “Bidenesk” 3-4 months ago.
Biden isn’t going to survive a presidency. Hell, he may not make it to the election. Trump is starting to do things my dad did 2 years ago. So neither guy is fit to be president.

It’s a giant **** show.
Sorry to hear that. My dad is starting to hit the same and we have begun to plan for his future before it hits too hard

I'm just not sure how anyone can really vote for a guy they don't believe can complete a 4yr term

That's because Biden is saying nothing right now. He's in hiding. It's that how the potus should act? People are voting for teams just like we cheer for ut whether it's Peyton or JG under center

I do think that getting Biden on stage in 3 debates will change people's minds. In a functional govt neither would be a viable candidate
That would work much better for Trump than trying to pronounce "Yosemite".

You are acting like Biden has never debated before. He did fine in the Democratic Party Primary debates. This hand is really being overplayed, but it does serve to lower the bar of expectations for Biden, which can only help.

I work directly with dementia patients and it is much better when the mind starts to go some then when their body fells them. They go through a sad stage when they realize they are declining but are typically generally happy....

... but Biden should be scared of debating Trump, right? Yeah. Sure.

The expectations are set. Trump had a high rated television show for years. He is a master of the medium and crushed a field of qualified Republicans in 2016.

Biden has end stage dementia and needs a helper monkey to bring him a card with his name on it.

Those expectations are reinforced every day by the red hats online. I see no good reason to reset them.

They pretty much left Biden alone..... I watched the debates and it was so odd seeing the other candidates go so hard after each other when Biden was the obvious favorite.

Prayers for you, your, father and family.

Thanks friend
People who have never seen this don’t know how it can go bad fast.
My dad has been my best friend since I was 15 when he said “I’ve raised you, you can still live here but it’s time for you to be a man and make your own decisions “ he and mom have been that couple who’ve been together since 1962 and are always together. July 3rd he asked mom if they were married. Then snapped out of it. These little spouts of confusion have gotten longer but he snaps out. By Monday this week he had progressed to full on confusion. He called me and by the time I got to his house (30 minutes) he was interrogating mom. Demanding to know where my “real mother was”. He slapped her and pulled her hair. He’s never been a violent or angry man but he’s not himself anymore. I had to restrain him physically till the police got there. Again. Reasonably normal on July 2 this year.
It’s a huge problem that’s hanging out there with both candidates with Biden being in the lead towards the end result.

I apologize for the personal stuff.

I don’t consider him a good human being but I also don’t think most politicians are including joe biden
Just like with people in general.
Some politicians are better humans than other politicians, some politicians are worse humans than other politicians.
Trump is the worst and that should be a disqualifier.

I would prefer someone that was more presidential but I would also much prefer one that speaks like trump does then what we saw out of the Minnesota mayor when he bent with his arm on Floyd’s casket crying for thirty minutes..... most politicians are so fake and I hate that more than trumps behavior.

I understand.
We just have different perspectives.

I've never seen any politician combine of all their traditionally worst features into one package as neatly as Trump does. He has also been vulgar on an unprecedented level. Professional decorum and social norms mean nothing to him.

I'm guessing that Donald Trump's afternoon stroll on June 1st from the White House down to St. John's Episcopal Church, where he held up a bible like it was just a prop during a photo-op, impressed you as being a completely genuine exhibition of piety and proof of Trump's sincere, god-fearing, devout nature?

That’s a well thought out post. Biden doesn’t bother me really on his own. These extremist factions rising in the Dem party do scare me though and I don’t agree with giving illegal immigrants a bunch of free stuff, don’t agree with much of the Green New Deal, don’t believe that reduced police funding is the answer to civil unrest, and more so I can’t vote for the Dem nominee in 90 days or so. If I didn’t vote Republican it would be a 3rd party I support.

Criminal reform is an interesting one for you to list with Trump passing the First Step Act and Biden supporting the 1994 Crime Act. In fact, there’s an entire NYT article from June 2019 about Biden needing to answer for his stance on crime over the years. What’s going to be funny is back in the primaries he tried to distance himself from his record on crime and now he will be trying to run on taking money away from police while at the same time trying to appear as if he is for law and order. It should be fun watching him dance. I suspect at different times he will both supper and denounce his prior record. That’s pretty typical in politics.
So my take on Biden’s record is that he knows how to recognize and follow the mandate.

He could have caved to the left after he got thumped by a 30-something gay mayor in Iowa.

He could have caved to the left after Bernie waxed him in New Hampshire and Nevada.

He didn’t cave and he won an overhwelming majority from a sane and moderate coalition who didn’t want to become GOP left.

Biden isn’t an idealist, like Bernie, and he’s 100 years old so he doesn’t GAF about 2024. He’s got no reason to cave to the crazies and his resistance to defunding police and tearing down statues shows that he understands the mandate, IMO.

I don’t think the mandate includes any of the crim law reforms I’d want to see. They’re in the platform for the same reason that he’s signing compacts with Bernie: to consolidate votes before the general. But he’s not going to get into office and pass a new crime bill.

The only real hiccup left for me is the VP pick because it does seem plausible that that person will be president at some point. I don’t mind Duckworth, I’d have to look into Demmings or some of the others. I am not a fan of Harris because I don’t think she understands how to follow a mandate. I like Warren better than Harris but she’d be a tough pill to swallow as well.

No that was dumb as can be but he is still more genuine in his every day communications....

I am not a republican.... I strictly vote for who I think is the best candidate between the two main parties.... I don’t vote third party bc I don’t feel like they have a chance in hades..... what does a Joe Biden presidency off that is better than trump?
the thing about third party is that those people should first be elected on the local level.....those are the people that make laws. A third party presidential candidate is a throw away vote.....IMO of course. If there was a good third party candidate running on the local level, they would definitely get my vote.

I'm surprised at you BB. It's obvious that Trumpous is all about reading the Bible. He knew all about Two Corinthians.

They tried to burn the church down and break into the white house.
