2020 Presidential Race

Do you think Biden is equivalent to a rock? I may have asked you that before.

I don’t.

I don’t think Biden meets some standard of “ideal candidate,” mostly because that’s nebulous and doesn’t really exist. He’s experienced. He’s worked in the legislative and executive branches and was effective and respected in both places. He’s not the most polished speaker. He’s not incredibly consistent over a long career, although that’s an overrated criteria. He’s somebody I would have been happy to see on the other side of the ticket in any of the past 4 elections because I wouldn’t have felt like **** would hit the fan if my guy lost. In fact, I don’t have any more reticence about voting for Biden than I did Gary Johnson, Romney, McCain, or Bush. So the flight 93 election narrative is not persuasive.

I can watch the hour long speech he gave 5 days ago and easily dispel the “dementia” and “only done short canned remarks for weeks,” criticisms.

I can watch how he acts with kids and the pedophile thing seems like nonsense, to me. I don’t even really think reasonable minds can differ on the last two. I can’t respect anybody who throws that accusation around with that level of “proof,” tbh.

So I look at his platform:
Expanding Obamacare: Not ideal, but I prefer it over repealing it without a plan to enact any of the positive regulations in Obamacare.
Environmental policies: Here, I agree with the intent, just not the scope.
Criminal justice reform: I’m for all of his stated policies. I doubt he will do them.
I’m against most of his economic and education reforms.
I’ve heard different things on his stance on legalizing marijuana. I think it should be done.
I’m not in favor of his 2nd amendment policies.
I don’t mind his immigration stance.

What distinguishes Biden for me is:
1. I think he respects the institutions of our government and would not attempt to shut down congressional oversight to hide his decisions from public scrutiny, nor do I think he will attempt to undermine the credibility of the Supreme Court
2. He does not have a cult of personality to get away with this, if he tried. The Democratic Party is now a split coalition. It may be 60/30/10, but it was the pragmatic 70 that voted for Biden. The crazy people may not even vote for him. I don’t think that coalition will stand by him the way Republicans have with Trump, unless republicans continue to make angry populist grifters the face of the party.
3. He seems willing to work across aisle and is empathetic enough to attempt to govern in everyone’s best interest, as opposed to trying to inflict pain on people who didn’t vote for him.
4. I think he actually wants to do the job and will prepare for it and take it seriously. I think he has the intelligence and experience to do that.
5. I think his foreign policy decisions will be better, although they really couldn’t be much worse and this really gets back to point 4.

I reserve my right to change my mind after seeing his VP candidate but I’m most likely voting for Biden and have no qualms about it. People acting like he’s a once in a generation bad candidate seem hysterical, IMO.

Biden is realizing we chose the wrong path at that fork in the road and while turning around may not be ideal, it’s better than going the wrong direction entirely.
I think Biden is an intelligent and decent man who understands how Washington works and what the term "presidential" actually means. I generally agree with the direction in which he would like to move the country.

I say I would vote for a rock over Trump not because Biden is a bad candidate but because the right's only strategy is to make the democratic candidate look worse than Trump.

Luther, I don't know what to say about you? If you would honestly pick Nancy Pelosi to be our president over Trump you have lost your way.
I'm okay with your opinion. Over the past 4 years, I have believed that Trumpers have lost their way, and I feel that way now more than ever.

Solid post.

You guys are always asking "why Biden"? He told you why, in detail, and it had very little to do with Trump. You guys need to make up your mind.

Trump's team is now running the same stupid campaign strategy Hillary ran 4 years ago. You can't just scare everyone about your opponent. You have to make the case for yourself, especially when you are the incumbent.

I mean Trump tweeted today that people might lose their jobs if Biden is elected. Huh? You couldn't sound more disconnected with the economic hurt people are feeling right now if you tried.

Throw my vote away? One candidate brags about his skill in passing a cognitive test my kindergartener could do. I'm not sure the other candidate would even do as well as the first!

You choosing the red or blue trash can this election?
People who talk about “throwing votes away” have no principles or actual backbone

Communist Party Leader Endorses Joe Biden

Communist Party leader Bob Avakian has announced his support for former Vice President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election.

Avakian, the founder and leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party USA, told his followers in a statement on Saturday that they should vote for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

Listen: Joe Biden Called for ‘Revolution’ in May Podcast

`Audio from a podcast recorded in May by former Vice President Joe Biden reveals the presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee calling for “revolutionary institutional changes” and talking about the coming “revolution.”

Biden, hosting a campaign podcast May 11, was interviewing former viral Andrew Yang, who left the presidential race after the New Hampshire primary in February. Their exchange happened in May — before the George Floyd protests.

Both Yang and Biden agreed that the U.S. needed radical changes in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Biden’s call for “revolutionary institutional changes” was later referenced by the Washington Post but the full exchange went unnoticed.

In their discussion, which focused on the economy, Biden took for granted that a new “revolution” was coming — though he admitted he had no idea what would follow:

Trump Approval Soaring, Voter Enthusiasm Outstripping That of Biden Supporters

According to the Washington Examiner, the Emerson College poll showed Biden at 50% and President Trump at 46%. The survey of 964 likely voters has a plus or minus 3.1 percentage point rating of accuracy. It added, “A majority of voters, 53%, still think Trump will be reelected in November.”

The Zogby Poll also showed the race close, with 44% for Biden and 40% for Trump.

Additionally, an Economist/YouGov poll reveals a big trouble spot for Biden and the Democrats: Trump supporters are far more enthusiastic about voting for him than are Biden supporters.

Kamala Harris Sparks Democratic Civil War As Democrats Try to Stop Her from Being Biden’s VP Pick

Kamala Harris may be at the center of a lot of the Democrat’s problems right now.

Presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden was supposed to reveal his pick for VP but his team has pushed the announcement back another week. As many wonder why this is being delayed again, there are some insiders who reportedly have the answer.

According to the Daily Wire, a civil war is currently being waged within the Democratic party in secret and the reason all revolves around California Senator Kamala Harris, who is reportedly on Biden’s short list:
Harris is seen as the most likely candidate for the Veep slot, but Biden allies have reportedly been raising concerns about Harris of late, attacking the California Senator’s presidential ambitions, per CNBC, and waging a “shadow” war on Harris that’s gone straight to the upper echelons of Biden’s campaign — “directly to members of Biden’s VP search committee, led by former Sen. Chris Dodd, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., and Cynthia Hogan, who previously served as counsel to the presumptive Democratic nominee when he was vice president under President Barack Obama.”

“Some remain bitter about her attacks on Biden during primary debates last year, saying they bring into question her loyalty to the former vice president. Others argue that she’s too ambitious and that she will be solely focused on becoming president herself,” CNBC reports.
Those worried about Harris’s ambition have every right to worry as there would be little doubt that if elected, Biden would find his own White House in turmoil as Harris vied for control of it. Going into a “shadow war” now would save Biden a coup later.

Not that it matters. Whoever Biden selects will eventually be President.

The fact that Biden has flubbed nearly every public engagement he’s been a part of to the point where his handlers have kept him hidden behind curtains thrown together by the Democrat media allies should tell you how things are going to be should the Democrats win in 2020.

Wheeling Biden out will be a rare affair and most, if not all, of the matters of state, will be handled by his cabinet. My personal prediction is that eventually, they will announce that Biden has gotten very sick and will sadly have to hand off power to his VP.

LOL. "Soaring"? Wow. You guys are desperate for some good news, aren't you? You are celebrating polls that still show you losing by 4 points... and citing an outlier poll in Rasmussen? Why don't you cite literally any other poll on Real Clear Politics? How about one that doesn't have Donald Trump's approval rating 7 points above the average of polls on Real Clear Politics? Good lord.

What is crazy is that as a Republican, I can honesty say that Kamala Harris is the best choice for Biden.

You really think that is a winning attack, coming from "Team Trump" (with all of his emoluments clause violations and self-interest)? The cognitive dissonance and lack of self-awareness from Trump supporters is staggering. Basically speaking, none of your Biden attacks work, because they all have one central flaw: They can be applied in equal measure to your own candidate, and so they serve no other purpose than to expose the hypocrisy of Trump and of those who vote for him.
