Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Lol, went to the football forum and within 30 seconds I saw a guy who said he “did not want” McGhee because of his Rivals ranking. Completely ignoring his 247 ranking, offer list, and All American game invites. Can these guys just stick to Facebook?
Idiots. I almost wanna go over there and stir something up but they’ll probably still say “His Rivals ranking is gospel!!!”

There seems to be a bit of consternation among some fans around the league with the SEC’s decision not to play ANY OOC games this year. The argument is really about the cancellation of the P-5 OOC games and some fans who think that was seemingly a “cowardly” thing to do. I’m speculating here but I think it may have been the LEGAL thing to do.

Most all of the contracts between SEC teams and G-5/FCS teams apparently allow for the cancellation of games without financial penalty under certain scenarios, including specifically in many instances, a pandemic or a conference dictate. If we are cancelling games with G-5 and FCS schools (worth a combined league value of something like $50 million in payouts) and our legal basis is because they are OOC and thus the conference would have less control over protocols and scheduling, etc., then we turn around and maintain our contracts for OOC games with P-5 schools, it would seem to me that would be shaky legal ground.

If we can play Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame, or whoever from the P-5 ranks, I think it’s difficult to find acceptable justification from a contract basis that says we can’t play Charlotte, Furman, Troy, or whoever from the lesser divisions. As a matter of consistency we either don’t play any OOC games or we honor our contracts for all OOC games otherwise I think we’d almost certainly end up in court.

Again, this is just my speculation but if we make one exception to our reasoning for excluding OOC games I think it puts in legal jeopardy the whole argument we’re making to cancel any games to begin with and that might be potentially at least a $50,000,000 mistake. jmo.

What do the players think about him?
No idea. Players don’t usually do candid interviews about the boneheaded decisions their manager makes.

“Hey Freddie, what did you think about Snit’s outrageous decision to bring in Chacin with the bases loaded, and then leave him out there as he walked in two straight runs and then gave up 2 more with hits. Oh, and then brought him out again the next inning to give up even more to put your team so far behind?”

“He sucks” -Freddie

I don’t see where I’m calling him elite. We were perennial contenders with Bobby Cox and we won ONE. Just perspective when reading he’s the WORST...far from it. He’s mid level at WORST.
Maybe it just has to do with being in Georgia and doing the least with the most. There are other teams very familiar with that within the state. 😎

Did that interview actually happen last night??? Wow, if so! Chacin has to face 3 batters, but why you leave him out there after the 3rd batter makes 0 sense to me. The Braves win in spite of Snit, and is why they won’t threaten in the postseason, because boneheaded decisions by the manager are magnified exponentially in the postseason and cost games/series.

I just think it's funny how bad you think he is. I don't have a dog in the fight. My point is that if he loses the team, he won't have a job.

Lol no I wish. But I agree with everything you say here. Anybody who watches the games can see this

You made this up.

I guess I’m underrating the proven talent on this team and their experience. I don’t see an entrenched ace and our core outside of Freeman are about two years removed from the minors. Joe Torre was a managing god when everything clicked with the Yankees. Mediocre or worse before and after that run. I’m not Snitker’s champion, but he’s been the guy that’s brought us back to the conversation after the Fredi Gonzalez disaster. I think he’ll get every opportunity to prove that he grows with the young players who swear by him. Cubs broke their curse with a proven manager in Maddon who was castigated by EVERYBODY during that WS. Then he gets fired shortly after for WASTING TALENT. Any manager that strings together two seasons much less five has something his critics don’t.

Lol of course I made up the quotes. The boneheaded Chacin mess happened last night. There’s no explanation for it when we’ve got 9 bullpen arms. He put the team in a hole that the talent had to get themselves out of. Again. They won in spite of him.
Lot of spite in this game. That wasn’t a unique contest by any franchise’s definition.

Hmmm... I didn't know anything about this so I read some articles. What I don't understand is why Trump banned Microsoft and all other US companies from buying them. The main criticism/fear is that it's spyware that gathers user info for the Chinese but if a US company bought it they would fall under our laws so why stop that? It makes no sense.
