Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I can’t find that information anywhere and they have not divulged that info in any meeting I have been in.....I have been told the rest in meetings though.... I do believe in herd immunity and feel the evidence will start to show that is a better way to approach this illness.

Are you saying that the argument that we should have rejected the conclusions of the CDC, the head of the NIAID, the surgeon general, and their counterparts from pretty much every other industrialized nation is based on some unverifiable workplace anecdotes and faith in the value of an unknown statistic?

The people “ who best understand these numbers “ are out watching baseball games with their masks down , jerking their masks off as soon as the cameras are off of them ,

Who was he sitting with?

and nobody in this country should need an “ expert” to decipher the numbers , just present a true set of standardize results .. we can figure it out .

Really? Because the United States has something like 23% of the world’s coronavirus deaths despite having less than 4% of the world’s population. Clearly we’re a nation of geniuses.

People are refuting the “expert” opinions with workplace anecdotes, appeals to their own personal authority as healthcare workers, faith-based arguments about what statistics might support their argument if we only knew their values, the opinions of a talk radio host, and claims about the (In)validity of known statistics that are based on nothing more than wish-casting.

Lol. Even Trump has finally figured out that this approach is madness, but he’s such a **** leader that he can’t even get the people who defend him to the hilt to go along with it. 😂

You took my first statement and condensed it down to “ we need to trust the people who understand the numbers “ now you want to condense my second one down to “ who is he sitting with “ ? You truly are an attorney, I have no doubt .
You don’t know who he was sitting with?

I can’t imagine not understanding the relevance of that question but still thinking I know better than him.

You are confusing two different things I am discussing..... the first.... I believe in herd immunity bc of the way most viruses typically blow through and are weakened and dissipate..... I also believe that is best based off the economic ramifications that shut downs have caused... I’m assuming those people you mentioned considered both options before going with trying to hide from the virus...... as for the numbers..... I don’t feel like it is to much to ask for true data so I can make logical decisions for me and my family..... I don’t require not need the government to handle my business for me.

You have people on this board telling you they are in health care and seen for themselves how screwed up the numbers are , that’s a microcosm of what’s going on nation wide . If you believe the “experts “ when the info they are getting is the same as what we are getting off of a non standardized method then you are the exact type of person those experts love to talk to . Did you sign up to volunteer for those new vaccine shots yet ?

And NYs portion of that 23%?

I don’t think so. The two things are related.

Your belief in chasing herd immunity has the potential to kill a whole lot of people and you seem to be admitting that it’s not based on anything concrete or verifiable because you don’t believe the known statistics are accurate.

Yeah, I couldn’t possibly know anybody with better credentials than “works in healthcare,” outside of this forum. If I did, I’m sure not every single one of them would say that the deniers and herd immunity advocates are FOS and that this is something to be reckoned with that will overrun hospitals and rack up an astronomical toll of people with chronic pulmonary issues or worse before we get to that point. 🙄

The difference is I don’t trot those opinions out and ask you guys to believe it. It’s not worth anything just like “I work in healthcare” isn’t worth anything if you can’t do better than arguments based on nothing more than anecdotes and wish-casting.

You identify the man and woman sitting with Fauci, yet?

Probably really really high, which is why I question the sanity of people saying we should do what they did at first and just rip the bandaid off.

More than likely any effective vaccine is still 2-3 years away and that is being optimistic so we can't keep the country locked down for that long without a crushing depression which will lead to even more deaths. Band-aid needs to be ripped off and let the citizenry make informed decisions for themselves.

The known statistics are not accurate..... I know that for a fact...... I meant over a month avoiding everyone and not going anywhere.... no one gets sick that doesn’t want to take the risk.... it is all about personal choice which I am a big believer in.

As I have stated on this board several times, my brother is the lead shift nurse at a Georgia ER not in Atlanta or Macon and he greatly disagrees with your assertion. I could also tell you that I personally know two guys my age who have had Covid and it took one of them 3 months to get over it. He was on a ventilator for two weeks. Neither one of them had underlying conditions. My father in law is a retired Navy officer and has a friend in California who died two weeks after becoming sick. He was 51. Simply because it hasn’t impacted East/Central Tennessee doesn’t mean it’s fake or a conspiracy. Admitting it’s a real virus and does kill some people doesn’t mean you are a co-conspirator in this grand conspiracy to take down Trump.

At this point what is not open in TN that you feel should be open?

You don’t know that for a fact. You may read or know of some anecdotal cases which may call into question certain specific cases but that doesn’t invalidate the sum total of those statistics

I don’t give a rats azz about credentials, you can take those along with estimating, guessing and playing the odds mix them all up in a bag pull out one and the results don’t change . You miss the whole point of NO STANDARDIZED METHODS. there’s only guidelines set out by the CDC and each state is reporting differently . I also don’t care who the “ expert “ was sitting next to without a mask on . I don’t need experts trying to decipher numbers , just the numbers . 2+2 =4 . I don’t need people trying to convince me it’s 5 .
