If somebody on the team has it, it's going to spread regardless. They can sit in the stands 6 feet apart, but a hitter is still going to get close to a catcher and an umpire when he comes to bat, will touch the baseball, will be close to other players when on base, etc.For the life of me, I don’t understand why dugouts and bullpens are even being used. Put them in the stands.
And Substitute pitchers from the bench instead of the goofy meet and greet on the mound.
And take the no celebration thing seriously.

No doubt. But at least they can mitigate the risk a little. Nothing they can do about catchers and 1st basemen being around people, but they should probably go to the electronic K zone Immediately. If somebody on the team has it, it's going to spread regardless. Close plays at the plate where the umpire needs to be in on the action. Who's keeping track of the count. Close HBP. A lot of foul tips are called by being able to hear.If everybody stipulates to it, why not? They could still have a plate umpire standing in the unused on deck circle for calls at the plate and foul balls.
Seeing all the protocols in place for my son to just go to college in a few weeks, I can’t imagine football even being a possibility until October. They’re going to need some time with students on campus just to figure out what they don’t know.Big (non health) picture is that it’s going to be impossible to do college football this year. Imagine this kind of break out on a college football team and they have to stay in a city for a few days while being tested? Nightmare
Not really, wouldn't be conceivable with the MLB. What we will learn is most cases are asymptomatic and that travel is safer than thought. Just because someone gets the virus doesnt mean its a death sentence.Obviously hindsight, but definitely looks like the only way this was gonna happen would be a bubble.
I think everybody understands that 20-35 year old professional athletes have low mortality. The concern is that they’re in a group setting Where transmission is so easy and can they become unknowing carriers. Not really, wouldn't be conceivable with the MLB.
