2020 Presidential Race

And in less than a year, his VP will be sworn in as POTUS as the medicine he’s taking is suddenly and catastrophically no longer able to keep his mental decline in check.
Very possible. Even Biden is planning for it.

Biden has said he will name his vice presidential pick in early August, before the Democratic National Convention, which is set to take place August 17-20.
Countless factors will go into Biden's pick, but he has said he is looking for someone who is ready to be president at a "moment's notice"

I acknowledge the fact that there are many Trump supporters that voted him in office last term who will be voting for another candidate come November. There are surely many people who are ultimately undecided and do not feel comfortable electing a man that may be suffering from dementia (dementia is not funny BTW). I personally feel that this will hurt the Biden campaign in the long run when he decides to become more engaged with the public. The whole “Anybody but Trump” way of thinking is not the deciding factor for everyone.

I don't claim it is a deciding factor for everyone. My guess is that 35% of the population will vote FOR Trump no matter what he says or does. And about the same, around 35%, will vote AGAINST Trump no matter what Biden says or does. Trump is losing right now because he is mishandling Covid. That's why his people are trying to get him back on message about it, to varying degrees of success.

The ultimate problem for him is that he minimized it for so long, so many times, that if as the election nears he tries to portray himself as aggressive, he is inevitably going to face video of himself being dismissive of the virus and he will then, without prepared script, defend himself in a way that is not going to be credible or helpful.

Disagree. I would take Obama over Clinton anyday. Obama had the guts to do a lot of things that no other president would.

I also disagree on the media as I think it is a Republican talking point to say the media is so much more liberal than it used to be as i think this is blown way out of proportion. It's just an easy out to blame everything on the media and not have to make actual and thoughtful arguments.

We strongly disagree here.

The media is an absolute joke now.

Clinton also worked with Newt and it was the last time both parties actually worked together on multiple things. Obama did not cross the aisle or even try. Obama was a huge divider.

Reagan also did not deal with a 24 hour news cycle that had hours of taking point shows nor was late night tv such as Carson heavily left leaning and basically an arm of the DNC which it is now.

And in less than a year, his VP will be sworn in as POTUS as the medicine he’s taking is suddenly and catastrophically no longer able to keep his mental decline in check.

Yep. I’ve thought about this a lot while thinking of a Biden presidency. I wonder how the media will portray the narrative of Biden stepping down and swearing in Elizabeth Warren, Susan Rice or Kamala Harris? It will no doubt be historic.

Here is the latest batch of polls. There is finally one showing Trump with a lead (albeit, just one point) in a state of true consequence. I was beginning to think we would never see another one.

I don't need any more references to 2016.

Cool. We'll just have to wait and see. I won't waste time with a time traveler debate. I'll just say that I'll be amazed if Joe isn't in a nursing home in six months as opposed to the White House.
If Joe Biden took a cognitive skills test, the kind normally administered to people suspected of having Alzheimer's, and then bragged repeatedly about passing it, while insisting that it was difficult... would that convince you otherwise? LOL.

Biden taking the same test as Trump would help dispel a lot of the concern regarding his mental faculties and ability to assume the office.

Biden will not take such a test because there is a legitimate chance the results would indicate that he's in the midst of mild to moderate stages of dementia. I understand that might be irrelevant to many people whose disdain for Trump is their driving force to get out and vote, but I assure you that many moderate voters and backers of other Democratic candidates during the primaries would immediately lose faith in Biden.

You're claiming that Trump appears to suffer from dementia like Biden does?

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Not bad numbers considering all that has happened this year.

Come on, now. You don't really think Trump mastered that whole "Man. Person. Woman. Camera. TV." do you? I mean, we are still just taking him at his word that he even took the test. His doctors are prohibited from discussing it... and that sure does seem like it would be beyond the scope of his intellectual capacity.

And you think our current president, based on his behavior, isn't?? I'm no Biden fan, but I do find it humorous when Trump supporters question the mental state of Biden.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.
Emotions are too prevalent these days for any objective conclusions to be drawn on such a matter. A voter is most likely to see, and believe whatever they want to believe, based on what best suits their political agenda concerning who they want to win the election.

Besides Michigan, those look closer then they did last week I think

Anyone with a modicum of objectivity should be able to recognize that Biden is far more likely to be experiencing mental decline than Trump. The test that Trump "allegedly" (this is where you start to sound crazy, for what it's worth) took is by no means difficult, by design, yet is a test at which Biden would fare far worse given what we've seen over the last six months from both individuals.

Biden legitimately and repeatedly stumbles through a TELEPROMPTER.....he will get eviscerated in the debates by Trump and it will be glorious to behold.
As opposed to Trump... who was reading a teleprompter on July 4th, when he spoke these eloquent words:

"In the fields and jungles of Vietnam, they delivered a swift and swippian - and you know that was sweeping. It was swift and it was sweeping like nobody's ever seen happen. A victory in Desert Storm, a lot of you were involved in that. A lot of you were involved." - President Donald Trump, July 4th.

This isn't an unusual occurrence either. Trump does this all the time. The only thing Trump will eviscerate in a debate, is the English language.
