I respect any man who’s 5’10 fighting against other heavy weights who are 6ft 3 and 6ft 4 with a reach advantage of like 10 inches and still giving them a run for their money!..depending on who you talk to Mike doesn’t get the respect he deserves...dude has refrigerator fist almost every fight he took on he was at a reach disadvantage.

What did Helm do that pissed Jones off so much? I remember it started over something small but I'm trying to recall why Butch went full-Bobby-Knight abuse mode on him. Honestly, there should be some kind of criminal and/or punishment for that level of bullying a player. It's an abuse of power in one of the worst ways possible. I know schools would never want to be the one that set the precedent because it would reflect poorly on them but it's the kind of thing that should've allowed UT to fire Jones on the spot 'for cause' and without paying him a thing. Of course, there are a number of things in his tenure that should qualify and I'm not talking about his coaching.

I remember reading some posts about this but have no direct knowledge myself. You could probably look them up in the archives somewhere.

Ive never heard that, at least prior to Douglas. In fact. quite the reverse. The media did a great job, as did Don King of creating an aura around him. He was also a devastating puncher.

There was something I saw, believe it was 30/30 breakdown of Buster Douglas fight. Off top of my head I recall, he was a counter puncher who had game planned around keeping Mike at arms length whole fight.

It was a cool breakdown.

Don King ruined Mike to be honest and yes Mikes upper cut was used to ring the liberty bell....meanest hands I’ve ever seen...ill probably get flamed for this but people rave about mayweathers ability to avoid contact but I think mike is better and faster “pound for pound” although they are different weight classes.mike didnt mind the contact though.

Watched part of of his documentary this morning that was filmed in 08, I believe? I grew up watching Tyson fights, and just remembering how he destroyed fighters. Glad to see his head in straight and making a return even for charity. Never been a huge boxing fan or following, but watching Tyson was a part of growing up and I’ll always be a fan!
