😂😂😂😂😂
Don’t get me wrong... it’s dumb but this is going to be hilarious to watch

I don't know of any Vol fan that has any remotely positive thoughts about Kentucky, but what the hell does this statement even mean?

"The Adolph Rupp name has come to stand for racism and exclusion in UK athletics and alienates Black students, fans, and attendees."

His name has come to stand for racism and exclusion? This letter was written by Kentucky faculty members? They should be fired immediately. Where is the support for that statement? This paper gets an F.

Look what the cat dragged in!

Has it not always stood for racism and exclusion? Why just now? Did they just now do the research on who Adolph Rupp was?

True. Hopefully he looks at death rate instead of number of cases
There needs to be some balance in looking at various metrics, for sure. But it's also hard to ignore (and why should we?) reports of longer-term health complications concerning lungs. Lung health...especially vital to athletes.

It sucks there are so many unknowns right now. There are no good answers.

Lots of ignoring the obvious lol or UK fans just now learned how to read...hmm

Rupp, of all the venue names out there, deserves to gtfo. Blatant racist and UK fans have known it full well for a long while. This is the least surprising thing ever.

That's why I don't like the extreme measures. We don't know enough about it to definitively say anything.

They could just rename it - Corrupt Arena

Rupp was a successful coach of a white Southern basketball team during the civil rights era. This is the main reason he comes under fire...not for racism, yet the aforementioned.

He actually offered a scholly to Wes Unseld in 1965...one year prior to Vandy’s Perry Wallace being the first black player in the SEC. Unseld declines because he didn’t want to be the “first”. He signed Tom Payne in 1969...Payne becoming one of the first blacks to play in the SEC.

Academia today is fully invested in educating “social justice”...

Academia today just flat out sucks. Home school your kids.So at least you know what they are being taught.

Agreed. It's just reasonable until we know more. Better safe than sorry. Error on the side of caution, until we understand more, especially for minors just playing for fun anyways.

Not a fan of the man or his legacy, but he’s the standard of basketball success for the school and the conference. History doesn’t smile kindly on his attitude towards civil rights/equality, but if being woke when it was unique is the threshold? Then a huge number of accomplished historical figures simply vanish. If the goal is for ALL to resolve differences and begin respecting one another, I don’t see how revisionist historical deletion accomplishes that end.

It’s ironic that cancel culture claims to strive for “acceptance” for all.

In reality, you are only eligible for “acceptance” if you agree with them. If you don’t, you are bullied into submission.

Nothing about their actions speak unity IMO.
