Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

How many times have we listed out the good coaches that came from garbage conferences and won in the SEC?

Kelly might very well work out well in Knoxville
But nobody should don't get carried away with a ten win season in the Big East.
Frankly, I'm much much more impressed with his winning championships @ GVS

my position is, if you choose to go the route of "plucking" a coach from a lesser program or a lesser conference, overachievement, consistency and continual improvement are more valid indicators of future success than whether or not a coach's team has won a division title in a division that features two other national title-worthy powerhouses

What was Mike Leach's winning percentage before this year?

in that case, Leach has had a winning record every season at Tech and Tech's bowl streak is the longest in program history

If we're looking for just a winning record we could save ourselves alot of money and hire Mike Leach. It's all coming to me now.

Leach takes players nobody else wanted and made them into winners...Consistantly...Look at them now, He's got two kids on his team that he developed and both are now in heisman contention...All this at a dusty little school in the middle of the desert that before he got there was on par with Baylor as being the worst team in the conference.

Have you ever been to Lubbock?

Your last sentence is absolutely wrong. Leach did nothing but maintain the status quo. Go look at their record 3 years before Leach and 3 years after.

dude, you can't compare his first 3 seasons at the program to Dykes' last 3 seasons. that simply is not fair

You can't say nobody else wanted the kids that are on his team. Just because they didn't sign with Texas or OU doesn't mean they're no good. He has arguably the best O-Line in CFB. You can't just bring in a bunch of nobodys and achieve that.

Sonny Cumbie was a walk on with zero scholarship offers. Under Leach, he led the nation in passing

Ditto Cody Hodges, although Hodges did have a single offer from Wyoming

Leach works wonders with quarterbacks
