2020 Presidential Race

That was pretty funny. Trump is an enigma. When you listen to him speak you understand him and it makes sense, even if you don’t like or agree with what he said. Then you go and read a transcript of the same speech and it looks like that post. Just reading that is painful. I give him credit for knowing that to appeal to the masses he is best keeping his message simple and to repeat it ad nauseam to drive it home. You could ask him his views on Russian interference in the election process and then ask him his favorite color and you’d get the same answer but it wouldn’t answer either question. One thing I’ll say is that no matter who wins, we will have a POTUS that will provide plenty of SNL fodder.
The 4D chess explanation seems to go off the table when he can’t remember statistics to pull off his own pivot about the coronavirus. He had to ask an aide for help.

Then, he ended up blowing the Biden-Sanders compact thing up so badly that one of the most memorable parts of an interview airing on Fox News was that Joe Biden doesn’t want to defund the police.

But, you’re probably right. I don’t think he actually has dementia, he may not be as sharp as he was in 2016, but mostly I just think it’s the difference in playing defense vs. playing offense. He doesn’t prepare for anything and he can’t pull off a subtle pivot. So when people are going after him on topics where he has to defend something, he tries to wing it and ends up getting pinned down on indefensible statements.

“No, I don't support defunding the police, I support conditioning federal aid to police based on whether or not they meet certain basic standards of decency and honorableness. And, in fact, are able to demonstrate they can protect the community and everybody in the community."

-Joeseph R. Biden Jr., June 8, 2020.

A lot of things have changed for the liberal left since June 8th in regards to their positions.

He’s definitely more of an attacker than defender. I don’t think either guy has dementia but both have surely lost a step at their age.

So you didn’t really care if he said he was for it, or not? Why say he needs to come out and say something he’s already said and then not care that he said it.

Are you saying that reallocating or cutting any amount of federal funding is defunding the police? If so, then you’re the one who sounds like an extremist.
Actually, for the general population I think he just needs to keep hovering around where he is and he will be fine. No need to get into the nitty gritty as most people won’t care enough about the finer details. His bigger issue will be making sure no extreme factions within his own party try to force him into a more extreme position. As long as he is able to stay at his current position I don’t think it will be a huge issue in the election for him as the people that don’t like him for this stance already don’t like him anyway. I doubt many swing voters are up in the air and this will make a difference one way or the other but I could be wrong.
