My wife and step daughter tested positive. I tested negative and had the same symptoms.
The tests just aren’t good enough yet. The sensitivity (true positive rate) and specificity (true negative rate) of the test aren’t where we need them to be from a public health standpoint.

This is why I don’t buy any of the numbers , not a single person or group can explain why we keep having these “ inconsistencies “ .

This is going to go down as the stupidest thing this country has ever done in relation to our economy . We are basing our existence on numbers that just can’t be proven out by anyone . Seems like every time a pattern develops , something pops up to make logical people question the trend . We either have a whole bunch of liars , a whole bunch of inconsistent testing , or a whole lot of incompetence. I’ll split my opinion and say it some of all three .

According to these ladies:
Most homemade masks do nothing to protect you or others. Virus particles are too tiny and pass right through and can be dangerous to wear for other reasons.
Most masks do very little due to bad fitting to your face.

To be honest, I think most people have had it and just didn't have severe symptoms.

I’m good. Thank you for your concern though. It means the world to me. Kansas has a lot of people that carry, just like other states. It’s possible some people just don’t think about the mask and happen to be carrying. It’s also possible some are looking for trouble but I don’t think it is a widespread issue, at least not that I’ve seen. It’s funny you talk about my prejudice but what did your original post reek of? Oh wait, that was hypocrisy.

That's frustrating.

Could your kid have caught it from anyone other than you two?

Did your wife also have some symptoms?

It sounded like your symptoms came after your test, right?

It's possible that

1) Your child had it and gave it to you guys after you tested
2) Bad swabs caused you to be negative
3) Your kid was one of the false positives that can happen (1-2% of the time if it is the CDC-assay PCR)

If you caught it and gave it to your child, who has remained asymptomatic, then I don't think the hypothesis that you just didn't have enough viral load yet makes sense. Why would your child have viral concentrations higher than yours yet never develop symptoms if you gave it to him/her and you did ultimately develop symptoms. So, I think that one can be ruled out....

Understood, but it does seem less egregious than reporting negative tests as positive. In the grand scheme of things, do we know how much this affected the positivity rate?

Simple common sense failed these people. How do you possibly not know that the total number of tests AND those found to be positive should be reported after 4+ months of this virus? I don’t know if it was intentional or not but that level of stupidity should be criminal.

Everyone has become so brainwashed that common sense no longer exists. All the talk about deaths, ventilators, hospital ships, and mobile hospitals springing up has blinded us to the reality.

That virus has mutated and weakened but no one will talk about that.

When re reported 2.5 million cases, it was discovered through antibody testing that maybe we underestimated it by a factor of ten! Instead of 2.5 million infections maybe there are over twenty million???????

It's all a bunch of bull crap! Its a virus that can hurt sick people --those at risk include the obese, diabetic, copd, an heart ailments but the healthy have very little to fear.

I can say this because I am a Covid 19 survivor. Matter of fact I am infected as I write this. I had one symptom and one symptom alone. I have a rash on my right arm. Its sortta like a very mild case of poison ivy like we had as kids. I am 79 years old and it couldn't even give me a fever! It only gives me a small rash!

AND WE SHUT THE COUNTRY DOWN OVER THIS!!!
