Of course they are influencing...you know it, I know it..hell everybody with a lick of common sense knows it.

Lol. It’s all a conspiracy. All the doctors in the world are conspiring. I know the media is liberal, but this is nonsense.

I guess the rest of us don’t have a lick of sense as we know people who have gotten it.

I know people who have gotten it. And my doctor told me to stay away from people as much as possible because of my low immune system because the mask would be no protection. But we can not expect those that are healthy to stop everything. That will lead to mass starvation.

Listened to Finebaum interview some writer that covers Oklahoma. Doesn't give us even a remote chance for football this fall. Was even talking about playing next spring. Then had a friend of mine in TEMA tell me they have a major breakout building in Pigeon Forge.

Totally depressed.

I'm pretty much resigned to the camp of we're probably not going to play this fall. I think we've sort of created a perception of conditions for playing that are impossible to meet. But the thing is I don't know why anyone thinks we'll be able to meet those conditions in the spring. We can't bring kids back on campus while their age bracket is the greatest source of spreading the virus. Kids are going to be kids.

I'm almost certain the concern is not about the fans in the stadium. I think the primary concern is the perception of risk to the players on the field and the liability the schools might incur. The only way I think we could possibly play at some point is if we finally make the choice that we're going to live with the virus, or rather, go on living in spite of the virus. That's not politically practical at the moment. jmo.

Ok cool. So even if we are at 10x the number of actual cases (which would 110 million cases) and herd immunity is 40% of the population (which would be 132.4 million people) then we are still approximately 22 million people from reaching herd immunity.
Nowhere near that close, I'm afraid. I don't think it is 10x the confirmed rate. Most definitely higher, but not sure how high. A vaccine would speed up the rate for sure.

Everything does not equal football. Football is a luxury. I’ve never said anything about shutting down. There is a huge difference.

I want football. It’s not like I’m rooting for no football. I’ve been to at least one game a year since 1998 (except for 2017), and my 9 year old is becoming a huge fan. But stating
it’s going to be very difficult apparently means fear mongering. It’s sad how we have to be put in a category.

There are some real challenges to play based on the pandemic, some of which none of us even know because we don’t run an athletic program. These are all real people involved who play and who pay to watch. I guess we can all put our head in the sand and just hope everything turns out and just not care. Frankly, it’s mind boggling the number of people who don’t understand the challenges and liability involved, but that’s where we are. This is a game where a hundred plus people huddle on each sideline, and there is personal contact on every play. People and players will continue to test positive and will continue to be held out. At some point, there will be a cost benefit analysis that will decide if it’s worth it.

I have told myself to stop this crazy debate, but responses just reel me back in. I’ve got to be more disciplined and be done. So, I hope this is it.

Lol..the big cheese honcho up here in Harlan co named Dan Mosely, I think they call him Judge executive, was screaming about how we now have 28 confirmed cases...then about halfway through his daily rant/briefing he quietly drops that we only have 8 active cases, and all of those eight are asymptomatic or have not required hospitalization.

Last week he was going on and on about our second Covid death...but come to find out, the guy died from heart attack, and didn't even know he had Covid because he was asymptomatic, but they still called it a Covid death...and you guys wonder why I think this all a load of horseshi*...hard to hide crap like that in a small community.

We need to be careful, but we need to get back to life.
Amen brother. Stay well and safe.

I was replying to your post that all doctors are conspiring, and that you knew people that have gotten it. As if people are saying it is not real, and all doctors are agreeing that masks are the answer. But as long as the media is making a bad thing worse then players are going to get nervous, and the liability will be too high. My question is how long can we stop being in contact with others without causing a major depression, and who all is going to be able to stay at home? If there is liability for having football players on the field huddled up, is there not liability for having assembly workers standing next to each other for 8 hours? They don't matter because they are not a luxury? Where does it stop?

Just asking. You don't have to answer.
