Marxist Black Lives Matter

My interest in the NFL has been waning, independent of politics. It's cratering due to the politicization of it. Itr seems like everywhere you turn these days, we're being force-fed strife, division, hatred. I'm just kind of over it. I'm much more into unifying voices, voices that draw and celebrate all of us.
Ironically, the NFL could do this better than almost any organization due to the diversity of backgrounds, beliefs, and identities of personnel and fans.

They could, but they're not. They can choose to be what they want. The cards will fall how they fall. I suspect they've miscalculated. I suspect they've chosen to cater to a VAST minority, and the silent majority will slowly lose interest in what they have on offer.

That’s not what happened last time. And people miss normal. And that includes sports. They are in an impossible situation. Not pissing off a large part of your fan base and not pissing off you labor. In a business where labor drives the business it’s a tough call.

The labor that makes millions. Don't get it twisted - these folks are going nowhere. And if they did - there are strikers willing to get a big paycheck.

Oh come on you are smart enough to see what’s going on. They know they will have no attendance this year. They will have a captive tv audience. Sports fans will come back quick once the pandemic is over. Boom took care of both issues. It’s a brilliant move by them. They will already have no gate this year. The last time people wrote them off they came back in droves. They will this time too once it’s out of the news cycle for a year.

They also got rid of Kaepernick and it took a while for their ratings to recover. They basically shut up and started playing football again. It's been said before that they are entitled to their opinion but they are comingling it with the services they provide. It's like showing up to any other business and them trying to sell something else.

They are entitled to comingle that opinion. It's a private organization offering that service.

The public is free to refuse that service due to the opinions comingled, to agree with the opinion comingled, or to disagree and still take the service.

That's one thing that makes this country great.

That’s the line in the sand for me too.

The way I look at it, sports should unite us. Look at the political discourse in this forum, once the lights come on it disappears, at least temporarily. And BTW, I thought ESPN decided to steer away from the political agenda, but I believe it has gotten worse.

You must be referring to the lights at Neyland stadium. Yes, when those lights come on, VN is a bit less divisive.

It was subtly morphing in that direction for years...nothing subtle about it now. It’s as much a political channel now as it is a sports network...

Since when did it become OK to threaten and harrass people because they "take away" from your "message"? I believe that black lives matter, and support getting that message out, but that group needs to sit down and shut up until they can grow up.

Agreed. Of course I believe black lives matter, but I do not support the organization at all due to its radical left mission statement.

Cornell Improperly Sends Student Fees to BLM Activists

Unregistered group collects $10k from student government coffers

The student government at Cornell University improperly donated thousands of dollars in student fees to a coalition of Black Lives Matter activists and left-leaning organizations.

The Student Activities Funding Committee (SAFC), a student-led panel that allocates fees to campus groups, sent $10,000 to the Cornell Students for Black Lives fundraising initiative. The initiative, which is not a registered student organization, describes itself as a student organization "coalition." According to the funding guidelines in the student government charter, for a group to be "eligible to request funds or to spend allocated funds [it] must register with and be approved by the Campus Activities Office by when the budgets are due in each semester."

The Cornell Students for Black Lives initiative has already generated a financial windfall, raising more than $118,000 from a GoFundMe page in collaboration with the Cornell Black Alumni Association. Neither the initiative nor the alumni association returned a request for comment.

An 11 year old and 12 year old girl were killed at a pool party in California. Three others wounded. The below quote is from the Chief of Police, and directly from the reporting site:

"Many of the people who attended the party are refusing to cooperate with police, Nevarez told KGET."

I'll hang up and wait on the Twitter hits; TV interviews; speeches; marches; and calls for action.

Anybody got a Snickers I can have?
