2020 Presidential Race

Would you say things in the country are going in the right direction, or have they gotten off on the wrong track? (via new Monmouth poll)

MARCH 2020:
39% right direction
54% wrong track

JULY 2020:
18% right direction
74% wrong track

Uh, the month of July just started. Mmm.....That's some kind of a quickie poll they've got going there.

Trump supports stimulus payments larger than $1,200 in next stimulus bill, he tells FBN

President Trump supports another round of economic impact payments to individuals, he told FOX Business on Wednesday.

Trump told FOX Business’ Blake Burman that he supported the measure as part of another stimulus package, so long as it “done properly.”

“I support actually larger numbers than the Democrats, but it’s got to be done properly,” Trump said. “I want the money getting to people to be larger so they can spend it. I want the money to get there quickly and in a non complicated fashion.”

The president also mentioned he wants the next round of stimulus to create a “great incentive to work,” referring to the $600 bump in unemployment benefits implemented as part of the CARES Act. Republicans have since criticized the measure as a deterrent for unemployed individuals to seek out new employment.

Eff this moron.

I hope he loses the election bigly.

Garbage. Dereliction of duty. Irresponsible. Victim mentality.

Don't have a choice my fat ass.
I’m not saying I agree with the proposal, but I do believe that they and the Senate Republicans are looking at the numbers and thinks they have to do this to save the senate and possibly the White House.

i appreciate the opinion is not yours and you're merely sharing it. my response isn't directed at you. it is directed at those political elites who feel this way.

i don't care one whit about the Rs saving the senate and/or WH via buying votes. in fact, i hope every single one of them land on their ass after a colossal defeat. they don't deserve to run our great country.

You’re not.

But the Ds and Rs in office genuinely don’t gaf. With the exception of Rand Paul maybe.
it's good to know there's a few of us still around.

will we ever see someone like Paul or Amash go on a passionate crusade to put a stop to this madness? seems like those guys are in our corner but i never see them fight.

I’m not really sure what they could do at this point. Both have been vocal about deficits, but it falls on deaf ear voters that just vote for someone because of the letter next to their name or because they want that govt money and are too ignorant to realize what debt/deficits mean.

No presidential administration has lowered the debt since the 50s. That’s the last time it actually went down. Nobody cares because they think it’s the next guys problem.

I held out a little hope when Simpson-Bowles was presented but it fell on deaf govt ears all around.

I don’t think it will happen. Trump’s position is confusing. He has no problem sending everyone another check for $1,500 but is against extending $600 Unemployment Benefits.

Just wondering how many of the libs will disappear from the politics forum after Biden is elected?

our country is screwed.
At some point yes. I can’t say when. Until then it will be business as usual until the next fiscal crisis when grand measures are proposed to save the day yet don’t actually address the problem.

Well see how much debt service goes up after this year’s trillions of dollars deficit. That is what will trigger something at some point imo.

If you ever want to kill the mood around here start talking about the debt. Everyone knows it’s a losing scenario but nobody wants to address it.

Too out numbered. We won’t realize how bad we screwed the next several generations until it’s too late. But when this all comes home to roost, they are going to bash the last few greedy ass generations.
