Gun control debate (merged)

Oh no it’s going to toast any armor. It’s more about in close quarters you need infantry supporting any armor for the armor to be able to survive.

Stryker chassis are still around in multiple variants. The Marines use them quite extensively. We’ve got a couple at the plant we keep around for integration work in the stuff we put in them. Sadly we don’t have any MBT’s though 😥
I think those are supposed to be that kinda mid range level of protection.

Cant remember if it was ERA or the slat armor, or something else that was supposed to defeat shaped charges. I watched something on them a long time ago and they talked about it being the future of warfare but no idea if that actually played out.

As always it's a grudge match between latest weapons vs latest armor. This is an interesting little article.

There are a couple of ways to defeat HEAT. And then you get counters to the counters... etc... for every defense somebody invents a new offense. You just want to try and fight people that are a couple of moves behind 🤷‍♂️

At the end of the day I think it’s a more “attritible” loss to eat losing a Bradley, Stryker, or M113 over a Main Battle Tank. Those are much more expensive. I think the doctrine is to keep the MBT’s out on the perimeter to secure the area from reinforcements and send in the lighter pieces and infantry. If they have armor dug I think you call in the A-10’s then. Maybe somebody more up on current doctrine could chime in.

Gun store owner: Can I help you sir?
This guy: Yes hello arms merchant I would like to procure the rifle of assault #15 in its stock configuration for defense of my perimeter.
Gun store owner: Anything else?
This guy: Yes also please allow me the privilege to buy a hand pistol much like secret agent Jim Bonds wields. It is for my lady companion. I can pay you with my Diners Club card.

I see you stock ammunition for these devices called Gold Dots. While I'm certain they are not in fact made of the actual precious metal I do find the association with investment appealing.

Hey you guys ever watch any Clint Smith videos ( Thunder ranch ) on YouTube ? I somehow just found him and he’s a blast to listen to . He teaches self defense , gun safety / handling , with a very logical approach . Not for the easily offended , he’s a straight shooter with firearms and words . I can’t post a raw video of his on here or it will be taken down for language . Check him out , let me know what you think .

I’ve followed Clint since the 90’s. He’s the absolute real deal. It says a lot about a man in his industry who would only want to be remembered as a teacher. He is the apex of the industry of firearms training imo.

I can’t believe I just found him yesterday . He’s great to listen to and makes perfect sense in the way he teaches .

That’s what I mean , he’s not there to make friends with you and be email buddies , he’s there to teach you what you need to know . I love the way he teaches . Honest , straightforward and realistic .
Yup. You should check out his dvd series he sells on his site thunderranchinc.com or better yet, go take a class. It’ll be money well spent imo. Clint is in his 70’s there’s only so much time left.

Very pragmatic guy. If you need shooting then it's time you got shot...nothing personal.

He's actually one of the guys that influenced me to believe the rifle should be taken seriously as a useful, if not superior, home defense weapon. (or at least much more so than many have long held, though rifles have in fact become much more popular of late in that role)

Clints tip of the day .. if you are in a rifle fight , don’t stick your head up . Also like the shoot them in the crotch lesson . “Regardless of gender when you pull your weapon it will come across their crotch first ... will it be a victory shot ? Probably not but hello Mr. fate , it only goes down hill from here “.

"Incoming fire has the right of way."

That's some worthwhile wisdom to keep in mind.
