2020 Presidential Race

I don’t believe he thinks like that . More of out of sight out of mind type . I never would have deleted it since it really doesn’t matter what he says . IMO

Just locker room talk, clearly. If'n your locker room is in David Dukes living room.

There were good people on both sides in that video.

I mean, is anyone really shocked that this dolt would retweet that given the race relations in America right now?

H. F. S. he is literally human garbage.
I didn't watch the video. I don't know about the other people on it.

When he ran for prez, I shared one of his life philosophies. DJT believes there is no such thing as bad press. However, when you show support for reprehensible concepts whether accidentally or intentionally, the smart move is to own up to a mistake and put as much distance between you and the lapse as possible.
I don't know if it matters in the long term. But I do know it is best if the POTUS doesn't appear to be supporting racists.

Agreed ..normally but at this point nothing will change anyone’s minds . They've called him everything from a simple racist to Stalin to Hitler . They won’t stop just because he went and said it was a mistake ( if it was ) they would just say he’s still Hitler and just trying to cover it up . Election year , dog whistle for his base , etc .

Well Trump and Duke do have something in common . Trump was a Dem For years and Duke ran as a Dem candidate for POTUS . They could have been in the same golf course locker room .

Dog whistle? He may as well have shouted it from the White House windows. If there wasn't evidence of his beliefs before this, is there now?

Watching you trying to rationalize or justify this is fascinating.

Deflection.

Wave off dude, even racist Ricky has managed to steer clear of this one (so far).

I’m asking how was the media perceived at this time when their was no CNN, FOX News, or Social Media.

The TV network news channels hated Nixon, as did the NY Times and Washington Post. Many newspapers across America were anti Nixon, but some did support Nixon. Newspapers carried a lot more weight then than they do now.

Their reporting was extremely biased. As an example, Nixon created federal agencies that Liberals loved, but because they were created by Nixon, they never acknowledged him as their creator. An example is the Environmental Protection Agency.

The media's hatred of Nixon began when he entered politics in the 1940's as a young anti-Communist.

While a congressman, as a member of the House Un-American Activities Committee, Nixon led the investigation into Russian espionage in the U.S. government. He uncovered an American, Alger Hiss, a government official in the State Department, as being a Communist and involved in espionage with the Soviet Union. Hiss ultimately served 3.5 years in prison. Hiss was very much liked by academia and the American Left. The media and Hollywood never forgave Nixon for sending their beloved Alger Hiss to prison. (read about the Pumpkin Papers).

In 1950 Republican Nixon ran for the U.S. Senate in California against democrat and former actress Helen Gahagan Douglas, the wife of actor Melvyn Douglas. Helen was a Leftist politician, and the news media became incensed when Nixon said that Douglas was PINK, right down to her underwear. (Pink meaning maybe not a full blown Communist, but close to it) John F. Kennedy, although a democrat, donated $1,000 to Nixon's senate campaign).

Have been thinking all day about that tweet that some in the GOP believe Trump could drop out of the election.

If anyone was alive in 1968, what was the National reaction to LBJ deciding to not seek re-election?
If this happens then Pence is the Republican candidate right? Honestly he might have a better chance of beating Biden

Thanks for the info! Interesting stuff! So, there was already a left wing, communist agenda starting in the media in the 40s?

If he meant to retweet it knowing that the "white power" statement was in there, it was certainly a dog whistle if not a gym whistle. But we'll never know if he was paying enough attention to know what he was doing.

You might be right.
I mean its still a long way from the debates, and I do think thats where Trump shines I just dont think it will really matter. So many dont like him that he can smash Biden in every debate and many wouldn't care. For Trump to get reelected I think it would come down to what shape we are in with Covid and the economy, and the police/rioting crap. But I think many are going to tune out what he has to say just because they dont like him. And this is coming from someone who will vote Red all the way down the ballots in November.

Not just in the news media, but inside the U.S. government and Hollywood. People in academia and the news and entertainment industries since the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.

To get a feel of it, watch the movie, REDS, starring Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton. It is a must watch movie about the Bolshevik Revolution and American journalist, Jack Reed's (Warren Beatty) involvement in it. All star cast. Nominated for several academy awards. Won Best Director, Warren Beatty.

I was actually curious to know if you thought he may have just seen golf carts and supporters until you brought up David Duke then I lost my curiosity of your opinion .

The fact you truly believe I’m “racist” makes me laugh so hard. You could put together a full brain cells and at least do some research

I may be racist . I just went to the back deck and yelled at my black neighbors ... for grilling out without me ! Since they invited me to come over does that make us all racist ?

Own it my man.

See Ricky, embrace it like FP. It's an anonymous forum man, what difference will it really make? We all see it in you, why continue the charade?

Hell, there's no shame whatsoever in the President or anyone else supporting a man who is protesting Peacefully, and anyone who says differently is either a Fascist or a Fool.

Would I be racist for saying Blacks make some good BBQ?

Hell no you wouldn’t that’s some honest facts . Please may I have a rack of baby back ribs and could you please ask your wife if I could have some more of those green beans she makes with the bacon in them ? My neighbors are awesome cooks and they cook out all the time .
