Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

A couple of weeks ago I was in the other house - two houses and a wife keep you busy. I was sitting peacefully in the shower washing my hair, shaving, and generally trying to wake up. I felt something touch my side, and tried to ignore it as imagination. Well, I had to clean the shampoo and get my eyes open just to make sure I was alone. There was a snake at my feet - OK, it was little - probably about a foot long if uncoiled, but that just doesn't matter - it was a snake. The pattern looked enough like diamonds and the head looked triangular enough for me.

Where’s the poo you passed? Did you clean it up before taking the picture?

I guess I am halfway through a self quarantine. My son is a resident doc in NY and tested positive and was at home with us last week (he found out after he went back to NY a week ago). Thank goodness for MS Teams and Saint Leo Fender.

Hope you all are okay.

Except for a few choice words, I managed to hold it together - even stood way back and rinsed the shampoo off, but definitely decided a rinse was good enough for the rest of me. My brother swears that a snake can't come out of a drain, but I got a new cover anyway and took the old stopper out because I can't figure out any other way for a snake to get in the tub.

Well my birthday is July 22 - last day for a Cancer, but I can't say the "better person" thing exactly applies. I keep wishing for a headline saying something like "Eight protesters killed and 23 critically injured when they pull statue of R E Lee down on themselves", and somewhere in the article you find there was an inscription on the pedestal saying "Screw you and the horse you rode in on." Guess I just find it hard to put much faith in a younger generation that wants to eliminate history while lacking the critical thinking to stay safe in a crisis.

I've heard & seen pictures that some snakes can come into the house up through the toilet.....

A question for some of you who deal with building projects. My other house is on a very slight grade - not much more than a couple of feet drop from front the back. The ground under the front of the house is dry as a bone, but the back is perpetually wet, and I can't find any plumbing leaks. There is a cellar that was dug years ago - just dirt walls, but with a sump pump, so obviously the moisture problem has been there for decades - the house was built in 1918. The floor joists etc are oak and hard as a rock, but I don't like the moisture keeping humidity in the house up around 60%. Obviously one "easy" step is a plastic barrier - I put some down basically to crawl on while running some cables for my son. I've had a thought though about spreading dry concrete without aggregate and letting the concrete absorb the moisture and harden. I've tried to find any references to doing just that and only found comments about not pouring concrete under a house because of the tremendous water content - makes perfect sense. Since I really think the issue is ground water, any thoughts about spreading dry concrete and letting it form a barrier under there? The cable work was during a really cold snap during the winter a few years ago, and it was cold under there, so I did what needed to be done and got out - especially in the front any work is really tough - can't even crawl on hands and knees.

I really had hopes for that guy. He might have some talents about football strategy but his people/coaching skills are just not there. The talent to bridge the generation gap and motivate much younger people is something that I know I'm lacking and probably difficult for many of us.

He was in way over his head coaching at a big SEC school at that time I believe. But you never know until you give them their break to see if their up to the challenge at a big time SEC school coaching gig. I think we all knew he wouldn't be there for too long but still ...... make the most out of what ya got.

WHERE’S ROMMEL!

I grew up on Memphis style BBQ and sauce ( sweet and sometimes a little heat ) , these people here in Virginia / North Carolina ( the food places ) are killing me with that vinegar BBQ stuff .

True that man. On the other hand though I ain’t Black I make a pretty mean rack myself. Fired up the pellet grill today in fact, and cooked some baby backs, per request from my daughter.

I love to grill and cook to , but when you have neighbors that will invite you over or even bring you a plate just so you can have some of there foodage .. did I mention we have awesome neighbors? Lol
