Leach has produced offense wherever he's been. He turned Oklahoma's offense around, then went to Tech and never had a losing season. Averaged 8 something wins, even though he had to play Texas, A&M, and Oklahoma every year.

Yeah, but Majors was only at Pitt for 4 years. They improved every year. That hasn't really been the case at Tech. Plus, the Majors hire had a lot to do with him being the hometown hero "marching home" fresh off a National Championship. Leach doesn't have that working for him.

Leach has done alright, but A&M and Nebraska have been really down during his time in Lubbock. A&M's best season was 9-4 in that period. Texas and Oklahoma have obviously been tough. Kansas State has had a few good years sprinkled in there.

I mostly remember what LSU's hire of Saban seemed like at the time because one of my best friends is a Sparty girl, and so I've been forced to follow MSU pretty closely for about 15 years. He improved their defense, sure, but for a guy who had been hired as an NFL DC, the defense never really lived up to expectations. He never did much to change Sparty's culture of losing, choking, mailing it in after losing to Michigan (my friend would kill me if she read this) until his last year, and then once he had a good year, it was like he couldn't wait to cash in and get out of town fast enough.

It sure didn't seem like a slam-dunk hire for LSU at the time, anyway. Saban coached Michigan State to a bunch of bad, Same-Old-Sparty losses while he was there.

I dont even remember the name of the movie. Was Adam Sandler & Jack Nicholson movie about dude with anger issues. Net flix it or whatever, funny flick.

Mike Leach Offered UT Job?

The newest rumor concerning the UT coaching search involves Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach. A television station in Austin, Texas has been reported to have leaked the information that Leach has been offered the head coaching job at Tennessee.

This information has not been confirmed at this time, but it would be interesting to see if Leach accepts the offer, and when he would choose to announce if in fact he plans to head to East Tennessee. More information coming as more details surface.

According to Chris Mortenson of ESPN, Tennessee has inquired of two NFL coaches to date. Former Vol assistant Lovie Smith and Jon Gruden. Word is, Tennessee wants to see if either coach has any interest in coaching for the Volunteers.

Gruden signed a contract extension with the Bucs after the 2007 season that makes him among the NFL's best-paid coaches. Smith signed an extension with the Bears after the 2006 season.

This rumor is starting to build steam.. Hearing it alot moreon alot of different forums..

but is there any way we could offer a job to someone while the season was still going?

thought that was illegal..

I think they are both risky. But i think having leach offense can get it done in the sec. if he brings the right staff with him i think he is the best. I think they better offer kiffin now if they want him or he is gone

Why do you think Clemson is being so vocal about who they are interested in and who they are interviewing while we are keeping everything hush hush...

Does Hamilton not know or does he just get s kick out of giving my nightmares everynight and stressful days...

but seriously.. why are we going at it so differently..

I wonder that everyday. He is just killing i mean KILLING our recruits by being hush hush. I know he has someone in mind and it would not hurt saying who. But what if the coach they are interested in is currently coaching and would like for it to be kept a secret until the end of the season. Is that a possibilty?

Me myself i am glad of it. In my opinion if he loved tennessee like he said he did he would know this is best and he would not let this program lose to Wyoming.

Texas Tech is going to match whatever UT offers IMO. I hope Hamilton has another candidate in mind if this falls through.

No way Guns Up can match our heavy hitters resources. If a guy can be bought and its what Haslam wants, haslam gets.
