To Protect and to Serve II

I don't know of too many civilian jobs that allow them to detain people and use lethal force. Not saying there are none, I am saying I don't know of too many. And I'm sure even those people are held to a higher standard if they screw up than these cops.

I think you missed my point maybe I didn’t explain it right. Civilians kill people every day all day long but you don’t say anything about it. You (and I mean you vaguely) don’t want us quit calling us and STOP BReaking the law. You will never interact with us)

And again, that is just one aspect of the animosity. Your comment was a dismissive one "they're just doing their jobs"... That covers everything from ticket writing to "we used the proper amount of force on to subdue the suspect".
I was responding to one statement, it was not an overarching condemnation or endorsement. And it was dismissive, traffic cops enforcing federal, state and local ordinances regarding vehicles in the road is their job. It's what they should be doing. Let's hold them accountable when they go too far and put people at risk, not criticize them for doing what they should be doing.

Imagine having a low paying job having to put up with scumbag pos like these "protesters"....and I'm supposedly to feel sorry they got smoke in their eyes and spilled their Starbucks?

Everyone's a bad ass until the SHTF.

Court costs?
That is so the judge can live high on the hog when he retires. That's another issue seperate from police issues. Don't like the court costs, and I'm not a fan either, try to have them abolished, expose them for what they are, the judges pension fund.

They almost always give them a warning, sure. Probably much more often than they do civilians. If that really what we're worked up over?
My sister is retired LEO in NYC.
The stuff I’ve seen and heard about is criminal. There is no “probably” about anything here.
The excuse that they are only enforcing the law is invalidated by the fact that they themselves are very rarely charged when off duty.

The law is still valid, the argument would be it isn't enforced on law enforcement equitably. I'm sure that's a valid assessment, probably even more so in places like NY.

How is a mindless button man (whatever that is) worse than the overflowing buckets of trash protesting in that video? Gotta love the BLM black "protester" saying the things he does to the lady cop.....misogyny doesn't count for certain groups though.
They were both talking ish to each other. Cops are so thin skinned, one case of hurt feelings = a baton to the head.

I think what some of you are missing is your making a broad sweeping statement and it pisses good officers off. It pisses me off. Up north some depts allow officers to have two alcoholic beverages with their dinner. Which I think is wrong. Then that officer gets behind the wheel and arrests someone for dui. Come on really. I don’t agree with dui checkpoints that’s why I’ve never done one But pulling someone over and detaining them to find out if their truthful with you. Yeah it’s a good idea. I’ve arrested people Wanted for child rape and every thing else by following up on what they said. Criminals lie all day everyday. And the child rape guy was a dentist

You expose the Average Joe to court costs by handing them silly tickets and citations. It is a horrible way to make a living.

I would imagine most people don’t even go to court. That means they have to miss a day of work which winds up costing them more. So it’s just more profit for the police department.

You realize the police only enforce the laws on the books right? Those frivalous laws were written by the lawmakers, not enforcement.

I’m sorry that you missed the whole point of the post.

The OP stated no one will want the job due to frivolous lawsuits then I stated that cops write frivolous tickets everyday. If a cop chooses to enforce a frivolous blown tag light law then so be it. These frivolous laws are only enforced to harass and tax mostly poor citizens and to violate constitutional rights looking for other violations.

The main point of my post was if someone doesn’t want to be a cop because they can be held accountable for violating the rights of citizens who give them the power of the badge then they probably shouldn’t be a law enforcement officer to begin with.

Funny thing is if people obeyed the laws we had. There wouldn’t be so many. What law do you consider frivolous? Just so I know what I’m addressing. Just to be clear I’ve wrote 2 in 26 years. I give warnings

But you violate constitutional rights using a frivolous law to stop poor citizens looking for other violations.

Why does your profession want no oversight or accountability?

Why would good people not want to be a cop due to accountability?

You’ve yet to define what you believe is a frivolous law. And I never said I have a problem w oversight or accountability. What constructional right have I violated

A law that serves no purpose to serve and protect or uphold the constitution.

Please define frivolous lawsuit? Since this will stop good people becoming police officers.
