Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

Yep...but rumors originating in Austin about Leach are more interesting than those originating in Knoxville (IMO)...

This could be wishful thinking on the part of some Horns fan, just as easily as it could be wishful thinking on the part of some Vol fan. I'm sure that there are plenty in Austin who would be happy to see Leach leave Lubbock. So, there may not be too much difference in the quality of the rumor based on its place of origin.

I live in Austin so I'll keep my ears pealed. Though the info they state here isn't really any more reliable than anywhere else.

Without a doubt...particularly in the day of the internet. But, the involvement of an Austin TV station is at least more interesting to me than a lot of the dream team rumors floating around this and other boards. There's probably nothing to it, .... that's noted.

....I think I'll wait until he puts his house up for sale before I give this rumor any credit.

I think this rumor would've held more credence if it had been reported by the Lubbock, TX media. This smacks of being a little of a mind game by the UT Longhorn slanted press. Texas Tech plays Oklahoma this weekend and if Tech wins then Texas will not have a chance to win the Big XII South nor a shot at a BCS Bowl.

Well we will see another Les Miles press conference if this builds steam.

Leach will have to address the rumor before Sat. Like Miles he will have to state his loyalty to TT. If you remember Miles was going to be the HC at Michigan. Boosters got all excited and leaked it. Forcing Miles to shoot it completely down. It could be a TT fan trying to put the whammy on Leach leaving by building a rumor.

There is no way a coach worth his salt would not shoot down this type of speculation with a NC on the line. NC are few in a life time, when you have one in sight you cannot jeapordize it for anything. If its money let him win a NC and it will come.

I am not sold on Leach. His offense is exciting and if he could build an offensive line like he has at TT then I would be willing to give him a shot.

UUUUGGGGHHH I just hope we get someone that can light up a scoreboard.

Not a big deal, but a Tech win over Oklahoma would actually enhance Texas' BCS chances. It would indeed kill their Big 12 title game hopes, but it would eliminate Oklahoma from at-large BCS discussion.

Nice angle, but I'd guess that Texas wants to be in the NC game and thus wants Tech to lose, right?

We need more reasons for denial of this report, not confirmation.

Then, if it is confirmed, we need information that clearly shows it was a token offer. I'm not sure I understand why Ham would do that other than to make this crazy bunch of pirates around here happy that their man was in charge of turning down an offer to be the WR coach at UT.
