2020 Presidential Race

Because if we are having an equal and fair election, shouldn't either candidate have a chance in every state.

I guess we're looking at it two different ways. I don't understand why the only elected national office in the country has to be broken down by state. If it's a national office, it should be a national election, not a state by state election. You can criticize me for not being open-minded, but I don't know that I can see it differently and I don't know that you can either.

I could see it 1:1 but I think things would need to change for that to happen.
However I agree I dont think either of us will change the others mind, so lets just call it a draw and move on. We've spent way too much time arguing over something that is extremely rare.

I've never been more disappointed in Trump than as of late. He has proven, given the circumstances, that he is not a leader in any way, shape, or form. He feeds off of division and instead of actually uniting the country during a time of multiple crises, he's out Tweeting or saying stupid crap. If he had laid off of Twitter, and spent time on television actually unifying the country during these insane times, the polls would be flipped right now.

It's a shame because I've liked quite a bit of Trump's policy with regards to the economy and other areas, but he's proven over the past few months during hard times that he isn't Presidential material.

If Biden wins, I'm at least willing to give him a chance.

Five months is a lot of time and anything could happen between now and election day. We still got debates coming up as well. But, as of right now, it isn't looking good for Trump, and Trump only has one person to blame for that: himself.

In Mexifornia, Hispanics are the largest ethnic group. Spanish is spoken almost as much as English. About 45% of the residents (notice I didn't say Citizens) of Mexifornia speak a language other than English at home. There are likely five million ILLEGAL ALIENS in Mexifornia. Only about 36% of the state's population is non-Hispanic White. The non-Hispanic white population in the U.S.as a whole is about 76%.

Mexifornia still has MORE electoral votes than any other state.

Why, in the name of James K. Polk, should Mexifornia be allowed to decide any presidential election.
It’s what you might call Californication.

God you two are dense. It has nothing to do with party. And wasn’t designed as such. It was designed to insure that the United States were a thing. We have never had any interest in being a democracy at the fed level. As evidenced by how the POTUS and senators were selected initially. The FF knew a pure democracy is a bad idea at the fed level.
The rural state representatives knew it was their power play.
But you, McDad, and Weezer all agree that more populated states should have a greater voice than less populated states.
That California should have 17 times more say than Montana.
Just not a one person / one vote ratio.
LOL....It was designed to throw the rural states a bone and get them to sign.

LOL.
You know that's a load of crap. Your vagueness can't cover the inconsistencies.
whatever allows you to retain your false sense of intelligence and open mindedness, luther.

I cannot count how many times I have stated (in this thread and others) senators are there to represent the state. Each state has 2. There are 50 states. Therefore, each state has an equal 1/50th representation at the federal level.

I do my best to remember things about you...your family, your vocation, your political positions, even some of your arguments on issues. I would hope for the same. I have been consistent, here, for many years. Discussion with you frequently turns pedantic. It seems to me you obtusely work at digging in your heels to look for ways to not understand others nor consider their points of view.

Discussion is tedious on the board right now with everyone; not just you. I don't know why. But I'm tired of it all. There are only a handful of subjects I feel like posting my thoughts on. Most everything else, I'm simply looking to have a little bit of fun. Perhaps it is time for me to take another break.

Hope your boy's football season goes well.

That old saying has meaning here .... you can lead a horse to water but you can't make'em drink.

Everything that's going on, it has grown quite tedious. That's why I spend so much time in other forums. Posting here in the PF can get depressing as hell sometimes.

Thanks. There's a lot of optimism going into the season.

I have no idea where this went off the rails.
I have never disagreed with the concept of each state having 2 senators, thereby each state having 1/50th of the voice on issues decided by the Senate. That wasn't anything I was debating.

All I was looking for was a general admission that the electoral college (great or flawed) does indeed give states with a larger population a larger voice; just not a one person/one vote ratio.

That should be the common ground, agreed upon starting point for any electoral college debate in the PF.

I certainly don't want to be part of the reason you take a break from the PF.
And I hope you had a fabulous Father's Day, your daughter is doing well (did she graduate?), and forgive me for not remembering - but don't you also have a high school aged son?

Now off to work on my false sense of intelligence and open mindedness.

What's wrong w/President Trump pushing the "America First" agenda? What's wrong w/ MAGA agenda. That's not being racist to having the country's citizens living in to be taken cared for FIRST in the world. America doesn't take care of all the people of Earth.
Last time I checked this is "North America" which is the greatest country on earth. If those people living here that don't want America to continue being the greatest country then find one that you'll be happy to live in .... lol nobody will stop you from moving & doing so ...... go ahead & live in another country if you find this one offensive.
Typical spin job..."If you don't agree with Trump's philosophy, then you're not a true American and can, therefore, leave."
Never once did I mention "America First" or "MAGA."

If you read my post again, you'll see my biggest problem is the lack of leadership this guy possesses during a time that our country sorely needs it.

Ay, pobrecito! Que visiones horrificás la inevitable desaparición de la humanidad!

Pero, por otro lado, creo que estás exagerando un poco.
