It ensures each state has a voice. When the FFs wrote the Constitution, the powers of a state meant something. As compared to today where we have an over empowered federal government. It was never meant for larger states to lord over the rest.So you're vote is more or less important depending on your address?
Because it dilutes the popular vote?

Because the electoral college prevents, for instance, two populous states like Mexifornia and New York (two of the most Far Left states in the nation) from deciding who will become president. It requires to a degree that a candidate appeal to voters outside of the largest cities.
Then what do you propose? Having an election where 5 states and 10 major cities decide the election?
When your candidate wins does your vote count? Did my vote not count in 12? Why are you ok with 5 states and 10 major cities decide the election?I propose the popular vote decides the presidency. Do you think people's opinions are less valid because of where they live? My vote for POTUS doesnt count because of the state I live in, why is yours more important?

So as an American, my vote should not be as important if a plurality of the people of the state I live in dont agree with me?
Opinion as it relates to geography matters. Giant cities exist in a bubble. There are perfectly valid reasons for not wanting to elect a representative for an entire nation based on a few square miles worth of people.Let me rephrase my previous statement... your address should not dilute or enhance your vote.
