Berman, US Attorney for SDNY, forced out

Well, that de-escalated quickly.

Is the consensus that Audrey Strauss is at least competent?
She’s a finance and mob prosecutor. Was part of the Iran Contra investigation team, defeated attorney Roy Cohn in his attempt to overturn convictions of two mafia members, so I would say yes.

AG Barr: Trump has fired SDNY federal prosecutor who refused to leave

Attorney General William Barr informed the District Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Saturday that President Trump has removed him from his post, a day after the federal prosecutor refused to step down.

In a letter to Geoffrey Berman obtained by Fox News, Barr said he asked Trump to fire Berman after the federal prosecutor said Friday he planned to stay on the job against the Trump Administration's wishes.

"Unfortunately, with your statement of last night, you have chosen public spectacle over public service," Barr said in the letter. "Because you have declared that you have no intention of resigning, I have asked the President to remove you as of today, and he has done so."

It's nice having an adult as AG for the first time in about a decade.

Shame on you, Barr. You're a puppet shill of epic proportions.

Barr is Trump's Luca Brasi. The mob is in full force and acting with impunity, while the short-bus Trumpsters cheer it all on. Heh. Enjoy it while you can, cause Kansas is going bye bye this November, ladies.

The stain on the nation will wash away eventually after the Orange Menace's removal this Fall. In the meantime, let's see how far he stoops to fulfill his dreams of full-on authoritarian mob-boss wannabe.

More nonsense. This doesn't impede current SDNY investigations anymore than the (also) justified firing of Comey and McCabe. Berman stated himself that Audrey Strauss is more than capable.

I commend your positive attitude!

Senate, House and Prez will all be Dems come January, 2021.

Unless, of course... Trump...

Declares martial law and postpones the elections because it's "unsafe to vote" during the 2nd wave of the pandemic in the Fall?

That's my guess how this'll go down.

lol. Just like Trump was going to start WW3? WW4? Kill all the gay kids in schools? Turn over military secrets to Russia? LOLOL. Yall make the 9/11 nutters look like Rhodes Scholars.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I don't think Barr has the authority to fire Berman. And I think Trump hasn't put the firing in writing, so it's a bit of an impasse.

Plus, you might want to check out what Lindsay Graham has said on this subject. I think he said a replacement would have to be approved by both NY US Senators. And they are Democrats....

Also, doesn't this feel like an attempt at a political firing?

Luther ...... Your predictions never come true ..... but your hope is high for the losing side of history.
Don't you & your bullies need to go find another confederate statue in GA somewhere to tear down tonight?

I like how you accuse people of being bullies, but your next post is calling people losers, fat, and stupid.

Here is the latest article. Even Dems themselves are becoming concerned. These DAs that were elected have already been refusing to prosecute cases based on their ideology letting violent criminals back on the street. Their actions will vastly impact the poor and blue cities the most so I’ll just sit in the peanut gallery and continue to watch and laugh at their demise.
Soros-funded DAs take over in 2 affluent D.C. suburbs: Defeated Dems issue warnings

The hit piece....I mean article came from something called the World Tribune. Quote from a real source, not a RWNJ fiction site.

It’s a political appointment and thus any removal would be a political firing wouldn’t it?

And it would appear Berman finally realized that Barr had the ability to do what he did and made a weak face saving concession to let him slink off out the back door.

My question is why don't Trump and his flunkies have the stones to fire people to their face? Why do they do things like issue a press release saying he resigned? This isn't the first time the administration has fired somebody without telling them first. It seems weird for a guy who made a living by flamboyantly telling people "you're fired."

Have we moved off the "someone on SCOTUS staff leaked" theory? That's been my favorite so far. Soon we'll hear some link between Berman and a reopening of the Stormy Daniels investigation...

You’ll find your answer in Barr’s letter to Berman. They tried to let him save face. He turned it into a spectacle. That’s his own fault.

If Barr has been on board from day 1 the last three years would not have been anywhere near as chaotic and disruptive with regards to the continual baseless witch hunts.

I can see that (although I think Barr would protect Trump from investigations that weren't baseless), but do you think Sessions was wrong to recuse himself?

for me the mistake wasn't choosing Sessions to be AG; it came earlier in the choice to have him as part of the campaign. Sessions had to recuse himself because the "investigation" was about the campaign.

Sessions was wrong to not withdraw once he saw this all coming. And Trump was wrong to not kick him to to curb and not appoint him.

It never should have made it to recuse.
