Diversity Day which was hilarious would cause massive riots, looting, burned buildings, and the National Guard.

No. It wouldn't. The nuance being that Blazing Saddles didn't punch down.

And Catbone complaining about The Office not being aired today is one of the singular dumbest thoughts I've heard another human being have when it's practically worshiped in syndication/streaming. You can literally type "The Office" in your browser bar and find any one of thousands of contemporary sources praising it. Once again, it didn't punch down.

Beyond the fact that you're both wrong with your statements. Let's summarize the context of the discussion. One side of this argument has young men dying in the streets at the hands of the folk who are supposed to protect them and y'all are over on the other side butthurt because movies and TVs can't make a racist caricature out of Mickey Rooney.
Steve Carell says 'The Office' probably wouldn't work today: 'The climate's different'

Anything else?

Be careful. I have watched baseball for 50 years and those mostly Caucasian pre Madonnas are pissing me off refusing to try a compromise to play. If I can leave the MLB, I can leave college football and take a few more overseas trips instead. They don’t have any power over my happiness and I love football.

This. Not even a question about it. Good post.

COVID along with rampant, self inflicted wounds by supposedly intelligent people have taught me to find my happiness in life outside of what is served up by others. In other words, if I don't like or agree with what is going on I will do something else I like better and probably enjoy it more. Once/if collegiate sports go the route of pro sports I will be out. My sports interests will be down to high school, golf, and more golf.

Yep!

Most of the people in the predominant demographic of this fanbase and message board can’t see it.

I'm usually on the other side of this discussion, the race card stuff etc., etc.,
But the general reaction has been somewhat expected of the demographic, painting it all as overblown and such.
And a lot of spotlighting extremes - looters, the uninformed and radicals, to broad brush the entire movement.

I don't feel being white excludes me from forming a rational opinion. But I accept that I'm a little pale in color to have enough experience to decide what "the real problem is". Or just to be dismissive in general.

But select areas aside, they have the world's attention. Hope it's used wisely and makes more impactful changes than a bunch of politically correct, junk, like reality TV or interweb "news".
Even if it's just to make those, like me, that have remained blissfully unaware of day to day incidents.. well... aware.

Best post in a long time. All the other professional sports that should be going now are finding a way to make it happen. But, hell on, MLB can't do it. They got to have their freaking labor strife and spit dead in the face of the fans yet again. It's both sides, but IMO, the MLBPA is by far the biggest problem.
