Pruitt: This is what we have to do, and we have to do it together

Self explanatory.
How do? Look at the that’s racist thread and it is an example of things that are ridiculous being considered racist.....2 of my favorites was an African- American council woman thought pollen was racist and a banana peel in a tree was thought to be racist.( it turned out that the individual that threw it in the tree just couldn’t find a trash can). You might find more progress if you tried changing peoples minds instead of not be willing to discuss things.

There are literally hundreds of studies like this. Doesn't require any cherry picking or skewed analysis. Infographic: Black Americans 2.5X More Likely Than Whites to Be Killed By Police

In fact, there is so much damn data on this issue you would literally have to be willfully ignorant to make an argument like the one you just made.
I didn't make an argument, I just highlighted the point that you use terms to try and shut up opposition so you don't have to actually argue the merits of your case. And as stupid as you almost surely are, you do realize for every bs study you link to there's an opposing one just as impressive. And I think I actually saw a 'like' for your last post from Hwychile? Dude must be freaking bi-polar based on recent posts.

You know I said some pretty nasty **** here, but I read that you had a loss in your family so I'm editing it. I'm sorry for that. I hope you are able to find peace in this hard time. I don't mean to be patronizing, but I think I would avoid arguing about political stuff for now and focus on the love and not the hate. Be well.

Anybody that believes that Pruitt did this from the heart is a damn fool. If he thought it would help recruiting he would have laid face down on Neyland drive. What a pandering disgrace!

Does the data give more insight than the data you linked? It's basically just raw numbers and editorialization, sprinkled with how minorities perceive reality.

What I didn't see shown in any data you linked--or the data the links references--was a breakdown of crime rate by community as cross-reference to breakdown by race. There will be MANY more stops and frisks on Chattanooga's 3rd St downtown than out in the country where I live. The same with killed-by-police, and killed-by-police-while-unarmed.

I'd be willing to bet that there would be a statistical correlation with crime rate, which is statistically correlated with poverty, which is statistically correlated to race. If this data indicates systemic racism, you'd probably find that systemic racism hidden in the economic policies that keep black people living in poverty and creating high crime rates in their neighborhoods.

Statistics correlate crime to poverty. Statistic correlate broken homes, children born out of wedlock, or of divorced parents to poverty, crime, and behavioral problems. Statistics tie children growing up without fathers in the home to poverty, behavioral problems, and crime.

US gov't welfare and public housing policies reward child birth out of wedlock and actually penalize intact homes, present fathers and traditional nuclear families. They penalize full or part time work and offer absolutely zero penalty for staying on welfare long term, or encouragement to get off. Ongoing policy has created generations of minority family destruction, generational sub-poverty government reliance and high crime minority neighborhoods.

In general, police are fighting crime, not races. The racism is found in policy that makes such huge swathes of minority races criminals. It's short-sighted and willfully ignorant to just lay this at the "police are racist" scapegoat level.

Does this count?

@CladInOrange the only thing you lack in saying in this thread to prove just how big of a douchebag you are is calling someone a "Boomer" and telling someone "their white privilege is showing".

I'm taking bets on when and who he says it too. 😁👍. Who wants in? 😂😂😂

But I am starting to believe a lot of people on this board thrived during the 60’s.

Report to the United Nations on Racial Disparities in the U.S. Criminal Justice System | The Sentencing Project

I'm going to share this with you. And I encourage you to view the other literature incarceration and prosecution rates by race for the same crimes b.c there is a lot of it. Black and brown people are convicted and incarcerated much more frequently for committing the same crimes than white people, even when you control for poverty. Perhaps poverty correlates with the way police and judges view race and therefore treat people (i.e. black people are more likely to be poor) but that is precisely why the justice system is racist

Your avatar is a picture of Trump hugging the flag yet you accuse Pruitt of pandering? I question your ability to recognize pandering.

When your salary is in the millions, it is difficult to know what you're willing to do to keep that spigot flowing.

I dont agree with his moves, he may not agree with them, but I can certainly see how a person would rationalize doing it.

You’re right. “Spineless Grovelling” would have been the more appropriate term

Raising 2 young children to treat everyone regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity equally.

Doing this by practicing what I preach and sharing equality through actions and not just words.

Immersing them in culturally different experiences and showing them there is more to the world than what we are “used” to.

Calling out racism when I see it. These are all things that weren’t done by previous generations, and I see it as an opportunity to change the future for the better.

".....than what we are used to". So you started out as a racist and didn't teach them these things but now you're woke?

What's foolish is believing that you know what's in another man's heart.

Pruitt, shares the thoughts of many of us. I hate to admit there is still racist in america, but I hear the "N" word still.
I haven't heard it since about 1993, except from rapper talk. In '93, I was having a beer with a young friend on the deck of an Atlanta bar. We were WW kayakers and were relaxing after a river trip. This guy comes out and sits down near us and strikes up a conversation and immediately goes there. I was personally iǹsulted that he assumed I was amenable to such language. I threatened him with a quick trip over the deck rail if he didn't leave immediately. He went inside. My blood pressure spiked, I apologized to Mitchell (who was a big dude and probably re-enforced my case). He responded, "No problems, man. I'm Jewish." I'm no social justice warrior. But, probably like so many folks, I won't stand for it in my presence.
People who use that word are on a spectrum from ignorant to racist, IMO.

He is right about the problems of police brutality, racial profiling, and racsim in our country.

Spend five minutes reviewing the statistics on police encounters and use of force involving black males and you will quickly see what a farce this entire political narrative is. And that’s what it is - politics.

But listen, I get it. College football coaches certainly have motivation to stand with their players, who obviously have their own motives in buying into this narrative.

When you understand this is really about power and class, it clarifies the picture. Wealthy coaches want to remain wealthy coaches. CEOs want to remain CEOs. Academics want acceptance and tenure. Journalists want to stay on the NYC and DC dinner party circuit. Liberal politicians want to be re-elected and expand their political power.

The saddest part of all of this is the very people who actually need help are being placated to and further robbed of their individual humanity for the benefit of the white liberal elite. These people have dominated the lives of black people in nearly every way as their cities, schools, and law enforcement systems are owned and operated by the very Democratic Party members now decrying “systemic racism”.

Like most things in modern American life, this narrative is a cynical, political game. And telling another generation of our kids that America is a irredeemably racist, sexist, xenophobic hell hole will result in further animosity and strife, not less. God help us all.
