He realized he couldn't ever be happy with or without alcohol. Many people don't understand that type of addiction. Many do.

I've been where he was, obviously not with the fame, success and money, but the same environment and the passion for the food and the life of being in the business. I'd be dead if Id been as wealthy as he was. Almost was without it.

same. i ventured really far into drug use. I was at a 2 day Phish concert in Hampton Virginia. The first night i just had a random epiphany telling me i couldn't continue down this road anymore. really hard to explain. the next day I sold my tickets to the second night. Left my friends and went home. That was about 2001. Never looked back!
