Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I have been on the grounds. It is way out on the Cape. Always a few of those for sale, but they sell pretty quick. I don't know anyone who lives there full time, but they stay rented pretty well. It seems like a nice place from what I know.

Are you booked there ?
Yes, God willing july 12-19. I've stayed in Mexico beach and visited the cape, but this is our first time staying out there.

Eat at Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza downtown Port St Joe, Hole in the Wall Seafood in Apalachicola, The Sand Bucket on the Cape (Grouper Fingers are good, and good BBQ and Key Lime Pie) , and by all means go by Weber's Little Donut Shop at the Cape Trading Post and get one of their croissants with icing. You will recognize the place by the line of people standing out front. They close when they run out , so try to get there before 9 a.m. at least, maybe earlier. The Trading Post is a good place to stock up.

Tell the owner of the donut shop ( Glen Weber) that his mother's next door neighbor from Tennessee sent you. He is an Ohio State fan, but a good guy.

Glen will probably tell you my name. It starts with an A, but I don't want to put it on here. get you a box of donuts for breakfast, and some to take home. That and the Sand Bucket are not too far from where you're staying. They had some beach erosion from the storm that hit in Louisiana a few days ago. I don't think it was too bad though.

Golf is probably why he has back issues if he does.

I played Firestone CC many years ago and pulled my back on the 10th hole drive. It was so bad I could hardly walk thru the airport and get on the plane the next day. I was hunched over for 2 weeks and it was so painful.

I went to the 1966 PGA tournament held at Firestone as a 16 year old. It played really, really long in those days with the equipment then available. The pros wore out woods and long irons hitting second shots to the 465 yard par 4's.

I started playing as a kid in the early 70's with a starter set my Dad bought for me. I have an old set of PowerBilt persimmons laying around.

I started in 1964, and also still have some old persimmon Power Bilts ,and some Toney Pennas.

We were members at Valleybrook when I was a kid. Played with my Dad hitting 7 iron just about every time. Afterward go hang at the pool, which was huge and had a high dive and like 15' deep end, then grab a big burger at the grille. Fun times.

I started down the street from my house at the high school field where I played Little League baseball, hitting my only club at the time, which was also a 7 iron. I would hit to deep center field. There wasn't a fence.

I also, went to the cemetery about 250 yards behind my house and hit my 7 iron until someone in the neighborhood took offense and sent the Tenn State Trooper who lived up the street to run me off. There was only one tombstone in the new section, and that was my target. Now, it is full of tombstones.

Hoping for Spieth, but who knows if he can keep it together today. If the Tour is like NASCAR, they will find a way for Varner to win. I would guess that somebody at about -10 or -11 will shoot a 63 or 64.

Who would of thought Dechambeau would be the long driver now...Big Boy.

Did yall see that quote where Mullen from FU said. "We should win every game this year."

That really pizzes me off. Saban doesnt talk like that. With 5 titles. He didnt say they WOULD win every game this year...but he said they SHOULD.

This is the SEC. He has us and the pups in the east, plus bama and LSU in the west. They do have a VERY easy schedule this season. LSU at home, pups at neutral, and our Vols are the only 3 tough games in the regular season. He has averaged 10 wins a year at FU....

But that arrogance just kills me. Pride Coles before the fall. We need to humble him . Badly.. I hate them so much . I would rather beat them this year than Bama, UGA, or OU..
Hope that pizzes yall off also...

As much as I hate it we are their Kentucky. If we were 15/16 against them we would be running our mouths too.

Look at how we consider Kentucky. Even in their best years we win.

And we would be ticked if we had a coach that didnt come out and say he expected to win every game, and that losing was ok.

Reading my local newspaper online today ..... Hank Williams' 27 yr old daughter, Katie Dunning, was killed in a car crash south along hwy 79 on Saturday around 7:45 pm CT in Henry County, TN. She & her husband were coming home from being at Kentucky Lake towing a boat where she lost control of a 2007 Chevy Tahoe & rolled it on the shoulder. Her 29 yr old husband Tyler Dunning was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition has not been released. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Hank Williams family for their tragic lost at this time. She leaves behind two small children.
