Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

6'1" and 190.

Yeah, but can you tackle a 235 lb running back running full speed at ya? I remember in a HS football game, I tackled a guy that when we hit, I just almost swallowed that rubber mouth piece thing. Had to cough that thing back up out of my throat. That dude came close to knocking me out cold.

We had to tackle Hubert Simpson in hs. We failed biggly.

As a 70 year old myself, a couple of things come to mind.

1) If the man was younger he wouldn't have lost his balance with a shove of that force.
2) If he was going to screw around with the police, he should have been smart enough to wear the helmet in his hand.

It was a perfect storm, and looks pitiful.
We may rent a place on the cape for vacation. If so, me and you should like pirate a boat or something😂

Ed King/RVZ

I jumped off a boxcar down around Tennessee
I was cold tired and dirty hungry as I could be
But I had my guitar and a hundred railroad songs
So I asked the policeman
Can I stay here long
He said Mr. Hobo you got to go now
We don't want you around
See I'm trying to build a respectable town
And we don't need a hobo like you around
So I left that town, Lord with my guitar in my hand
Still cold and tired, kinda mad at the man
But this life that I chose to live, sometime's strange
See I'm trying to learn about the old music from ridin' the train
I'm a hobo I know, but thta's the price I pay
Guess I'll write me another song while I'm on my way
Catch me another train and this is what I'll say
Mr Choo-choo train take me away
I'm goin' to ride this train Lord until I find out
What Jimmie Rogers and the Hag was all about
See I play this rock n roll and I think that's fine
But I want to go back a little further in time
I'm a hobo I know but that's the price I pay
Guess I'll write me another song while I'm on my way
Catch me another train and this is what I'll say
Mr Choo-choo train take me away

My latest project: 120 feet of above ground temporary pvc water line to run 6 sprinklers for new grass at new house site. Water will be pumped out of creek with a small Honda 32gpm pump. I about killed myself walking up and down that hill in 90 degree weather today.

Do you have underground drainage in the hillside? My backyard slopes a little less than yours and runoff is terrible. I’m having to have retaining walls put in to help mitigate it.

No. We have runoff. Tough place to build on. A lot of the new grass got torn up by the mower. It has been mowed twice so far. That hill is about a 50 foot elevation increase in about 200 feet.

I have owned the property for about 10 years, but just built a house. I mowed it years ago with a 4 wheel drive Simplicity Legacy, but am hiring out the first 3 or mowings because I was afraid the size of the Simplicity might be hard on the grass. I think the zero turn walk behind that the guy is using may be worse.

I am going to put in a drain at the end of the driveway and run the water into the woods. So far, it has washed out the hill all the way down to the bottom to the point it looks like a ditch.

Good job 72.

Btw...

My dad who just died from cancer last year started a website dedicated to Simplicity/Allis Chalmers tractors. He built it from scratch and started a little community there online where people swap parts etc. I havent been there since before he died, but thank you for reminding me. I miss my dad. He loved those tractors and had a bunch. 1 of his buddies took over the site . It is called SimpleTractors.com

You need to put you in a garden by that crick.

I have been on that website many times in the last few years, but not recently.

I'm connecting my pipe sections with a combination of couplings, T's, and unions. That way , I can take it down in eight 15 foot sections by unscrewing the couplings. I bought 5 foot pieces of pipe because I couldn't haul anything longer. After each 5 foot section there will either be a coupling glued to the next section, a union, or a T necked down to 3/4" pipe and an adapter to a garden hose fitting, to attach a hose and a sprinkler.

That's beautiful 72. Which side of the hills are you on now? TN or NC? I know you have that other house near Boone

Edit. Also popped in on my dads site and gave the new owner a shout. Thanked him for keeping part of my Dad alive. Glad you reminded me

I am in Tennessee where we just built the new house. I go to NC about every week or 10 days to mow and play a little golf. It is only an hour and a half drive on a nice curvy mountain road along a river and a creek part of the way. I really enjoy the drive. I like to drive twisty roads at some speed.
