Systemic Racism

Seriously? The point? Will the answer engender a mature and honest discussion? Unlikely!! Your question seems nothing more than a troll trap

If you are serious however i suggest you instead ask the question of those right wing conservatives on this Forum. The answer you seek will be found in their inability to answer the question. Their inability for them to answer is a big component of systemic racism IMO
Yes, I hope it would engender discussion. If we can see clear and definable examples of systemic racism, we can expose them and root them out.
Inability? You haven’t answered it. All you’ve done is provide further ambiguity and put yourself in a position where you have to do nothing other than blame. “See! The fact that you can’t see the clear racism (which I refuse to define or example) is clear proof that there is systemic racism. I call BS.

I have worked in inner city ministry for 15 years. Through this I’m associated with a dozen others that counsel, feed, cloth and shelter lower income individuals and families, many of which are minorities. Guess where the vast majority of funding comes from? White conservatives. So, when all the shouting and marching is over guess who will be funding the clean up?

Saying there is no racism is a component of racism. Thats some sound logic right there!

The problem is your systemic racism relies on decades gone policies, lack of responsibility, low intelligence, no self reflection, and emotional thinking.

Neither side of the political spectrum is interested in a solution

Let us assume that is the case. That still misses the point. That complaint is that whenever these events do occur, the deck is stacked in favor of the cops and they rarely receive proper justice in a timely manner.
I am guessing that lawbreakers have more problems with police than law abiding folks. I am in the camp of the latter. Having said that, there are bad people in every profession. Sh!t is bound to happen when you combine bad people with bad cops in a bad situation.

First we do not have to “assume” anything. We have statistics and we know facts.

1. None of us should ever accept anyone being mistreated, hurt, or killed unjustly by police.

2. None of us should ever accept police being “let off the hook” (so to speak) for their own injustices or when they break the law.

However we cannot let what we see on TV determine what statistics or facts are. You say “cops rarely receive proper justice.” Where do you get this information? We certainly know some do not; however we cannot perpetuate “false” or “unknown” information......this leads to a false argument, one that can undermine needed conversation and/or change.

No one should ever be unjustly killed by anyone. This should be of even greater importance with people who have authority over others. We know this does happen; however how can one make their argument or try to create change if they are basing their argument on “misinformation” or wrong information?

We must accept real facts, even if we do not like them. We know some police officers are bad.....there are bad people everywhere. However we also know through tracked statistics people of any race are unlikely to be killed by police. They are even WAY more unlikely to be killed unjustly by police. White males are killed at a higher rate by police than minorities. Unarmed white males are killed at a higher rate by police than minorities.

Again none of those killed unjustly by police should ever happen; however one cannot gain change without a “sound” argument....one has to have real and valid information in order to have a sound argument.

Black lives DO matter (although I do not support the blm movement because it is infused with “some” violent and far radical people). Black people deserve to be heard.....and we must all have real conversations using real facts.....not “just” our opinions or our perceptions.

Many people are hating on police right now. Some rightfully so; however many are using real racism tactics in order to do so......lumping most or even all, in with the very few....this is my point. Facts say most police are not corrupt or bad. Facts say all people are unlikely to be killed by police......we want no one to be unjustly killed by police.....while this may never happen.....we can’t have a legitimate start without having a truthful and sound argument.

Once we have engaged real conversation with real facts, then we can even start to have meaningful conversations about how many black people feel when they are engaged with police (even when those people have done nothing wrong). Both sides need to hear each other. Both sides should also accept facts & opinion “perceived” or not.

Nope. The left wants to make it a racial issue and the right wants to talk about Floyd's past legal problems.

Meanwhile, the real issue, tyrannical police, is not talked about.

I wonder if the police issue has something to do with training? I don’t know. Maybe some officers aren’t getting the proper training. I do know defunding the police will not solve anything.

Police have alway had bad and corrupt officers. There are bad, corrupt and racist people in the world and always have been.

Many years ago this type is stuff was worse than it is today. The reasons are: society has changed, peoples views and opinions have changed, officers are better trained and equipped, there are now more minorities in law enforcement....among many other reasons.

The reason it seems much worse is because of two main factors. 1. Everyone has a video camera. 2. Social media.

Back years ago someone in Florida didn’t know what happened to jon doe in Utah....now everyone shares their opinion and shares their real “bad” encounters with police.

We simply see it more.....that doesn’t mean it happens more.

Again, as stated in my other post we cannot accept ANY injustices brought on by police. However we have to use real data and real information from all sides.

Police and the pro-police side will probably not listed if the argument is wrong or unsound. Just as the other side will probably not listen of the pro-police argument is not factual.

Ask the notorious Daniel Shaver who was murdered in cold blood about being a law abiding citizen.

Let’s ask Breonna Taylor the ruthless EMT who was murdered while sleeping in her own bed.

Let’s put the murders aside. It’s also about the harassing and violating the rights of citizens.

Take about 30 minutes and research YouTube and you will find plenty of videos of cops harassing and violating the rights of law abiding citizens.

It shouldn’t matter your race, gender, or political spectrum everyone should demand better from those who took an oath to protect and serve and uphold the constitution.

Very good post and you are probably right. I was just thinking a little. I am definitely not 100% pro police but I do think they get a bad rap. Not all cops are bad. I am sure there are many bad cops. But there also many good ones. Agree about police injustices.

You start by correctly stating opinions should be based on facts. Then you proceed to report incorrect facts

Police kill more unarmed black men per year than white men. Period

The American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) from the American Public Health Association (APHA) publications

This article is also one component of confirmation of systemic racism

I think that the police killing any unarmed people per year is a problem. Would it suddenly be ok if they increased the number of killings of whites and Hispanics to make things fair?
