Systemic Racism

It's literally why our nation exists. Centuries of oppression.

White Americans ancestors largely came over here to get away from oppressive or not good situations, or just to better themselves. Some who came over brought that oppression with them, slavery.

What's interesting is if anyone wants to continue that line of thinking. I can see a couple interesting spinoffs.
Its strange how some are willing to flee oppression yet others prefer to wallow in it and complain.

Some interesting points in the video.

1. Schools- the democrats and teachers unions have fought against school choice. School choices would allow parents to remove their children from failing schools and place them in a school of their choosing through a voucher program. Wouldn’t this allow the same opportunity for all children?

2. Higher education- There’s now more opportunities than ever for black kids to take advantage of higher education. Admission standards have been lowered. Diversity is the top priority for most colleges and universities. Are black students taking advantage of these opportunities? Are they majoring in science? Technology? Or are they choosing gender studies? Are black students taking advantage of trade opportunities?

3. Home ownership and wealth- A bank or mortgage company are businesses. If they aren’t loaning money to credit worthy individuals or families then they will be out of business soon. Are banks and mortgage companies denying home loans to black families? Or are they not meeting the credit standards? I think instead of glorifying bling the black community should be educated on saving and investing money(white people also).

3. Culture and family- whether it’s kids growing up in the trailer park or in the ghettos a very large portion have turned to drugs and are living in single parent homes with no male influences. Why are drugs more prevalent in the poorer communities? Why are single households more prevalent in the poorer communities? The government has incentivized single family homes in both white and black communities. The drug problem is just a head scratcher and I have no idea has this epidemic has came about.

The change is going to have to start from within with choices and parenting.

Yes.

We saw black cops abusing black students for breaking curfew in ATL a few days ago.

It isn't about black or white. We have a law enforcement problem. Period.

Ras...maybe I'm looking at the wrong conversation but the last 10 days are so has been about two issues 1) police brutality and different standards applied to black versus white and 2) a second narrative about white folks are mostly racist if they don't agree with the liberal agenda.

People are going back to the Floyd incident to justify everything that has happened since.

This is a bootstrap crowd. They feel that if one person can pull themselves up that all people have the ability to do so. Never mind the generations of poverty growing up in the projects. You need money, you commit a crime, you go to jail, you get out, can’t get a job, back to needing money. Rinse repeat over and over and over again. So yes, it’s systemic. And no, I don’t know the answer. The government, whether it be republican or Democrat, has **** all over these people and has done nothing to help alleviate the problem.

Anything the government is involved in is usually a failure. They have given incentives for single parent homes.

What happened to working and hard and staying in school? The working class of people have been demonized as uneducated and nonessential.

Manufacturing has left America so we can save a few pennies on cheap widgets. A great lie started spreading in the 90’s called the global economy which cost Americans high paying jobs.

A culture that glorifies bling and doesn’t teach about saving and investing.

The education system has been liberalized for monetary gain. I’m sorry to tell you this but a degree in gender studies will not raise you out of poverty. Trade schools are mocked by the educated elite.

A system were we are afraid to tell our kids that drugs are bad and if you become an addict you will be probably live a sh$tty life.

People can still pull themselves out of poverty but they must be willing to work.

That goes for people of any race. It’s hard to break a cycle of poverty, but impossible when it doesn’t include changing your own behavior or finding solutions within your own community.

That listing is a good one. I’d also add the ability to pass a drug test. I’ve dealt with a lot of companies who say they can’t get enough qualified applicants due to failing a drug test. It’s a huge problem.

This is so true. My youngest daughter was a manager at a local grocery store and folks would come in all the time for applications. She’d hand them the application while saying you’ll need to pass a drug test and 8/10 would walk away without the application. It’s sad.
