George Floyd Protest/Riots

I think going to someone's funeral you didn't know and sobbing is a crappy thing to do. I think doing that as a politician right in front of the casket for a camera is an abhorrent thing to do. Hold a memorial or vigil and cry all you want to for hours, whatever. Funerals aren't for random people to jump on in and ride the grief train. Jmo. We can agree to disagree on this one I suppose.

Is it as bad as holding up a Bible at a church?

Other than skin color, why was it okay to hang Bush in effigy, but not Obama? I agree with McDad that people often see the message they want to see. If it's wrong to hang one President in effigy, shouldn't it be wrong to hang all Presidents in effigy?

People have been hanging effigies for presidents since the founding, so to say its suddenly racial is just stupid.

No, it’s the mindset of trying to whitewash history by minimizing what happened to Black people. It’s lazy and disgusting.
I agree that some try to minimize what happened to black people in this country. Sometimes even unintentionally. I also think the black community needs to be wary of minimizing what goes on in their neighborhoods. Black on black crime is a separate issue that needs to be addressed, but is often ignored.

Doesn’t change the fact that they crapped on a whole lot of people’s civil liberties, and let’s be clear they were protesting peacefully, all for a photo op.
I'm no Constitutional lawyer here, but I think "closing down a park" and "shutting down a protest" are not the same thing, even though they might be effectively the same set of events in how it all played out.

Let's all put ourselves in the mind of Trump here. Do you think he wanted to shutdown a protest, or do you think he thought about the burned church and decided it would be a dope ass picture?

Maybe it doesn't matter, but we all know the answer.

I think he crapped on people’s civil liberties. His reasoning is not relevant to me at all.

How about some apologies from some of you?

Tone deaf doesn't quite seem to convey the 'wtf' that his comments deserve.
Unbelievable
Out of context you say? At this point, what difference does it make?
