George Floyd Protest/Riots

Something that just crossed my mind while watching the news. It was mentioned that the police are working 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. That’s a buttload of overtime for some of these cities, I’m sure other departments like sanitation and fire departments are working massive OT also.

That’s a bunch of payroll for these cities that have been shutdown and tax revenues have got to be at historic lows. These cities are going to have to have massive tax increases to pay for all of this.

LA mayor is planning to cut the LAPD budget - maybe that will pay for it

The problem I have with this is all these names/cases are nowhere close to the same. So many different circumstances. Some happened because of their own behavior (Michael Brown), others happened because of cops making bad decisions and are legitimate discussions.
These nfl idiots don’t care about the details. I may have to sit this season out again

the states will ask for federal bailouts

Have you yet gotten down on your knees if front of black men and asked for Forgiveness for being White? If not, tonight would be a good time to do so.

Bahh...I just asserted my trans-blackness and said "bow to me...and load that 80" Samsung OLED into my truck".

Technically, it might be considered culture appropriation but I'm a visual learner.

Guarantee if it wasn't for the riots and looting this story would've died over the weekend. Every. Single. Time. Something like this happens people talk about how terrible it is, quote MLK Jr., talk about how we must listen to each other and how we must come together. Then absolutely nothing happens that would prevent it from happening again in the future and everyone goes back to their lives.

If only there was a peaceful protest 4 years ago! Oh wait...that happened and it was completely blown off because precious flag > human life. When you don't listen and do something when they're protesting peacefully you'll damn sure listen and do something when they're destroying your city.
It rarely happens, this wasn't a racist killing, this was an excessive force issue. This happens to every race. We can't have riots every time someone gets killed by police. Especially considering some of these killings turned it to be completely justified. Ferguson was decimated, people lost their lives, for a false narrative! I can understand the emotional aspect of this killing. But cooler heads must prevail at some point. Burning it down just drives the two sides further apart.

I’ve been sitting them out for a long time. Sunday is my college football recovery day. Usually exhausted from my armchair quarterbacking duties.
Last year was my first year back in a few years sounds like it will be short lived

That doesn't matter and is irrelevant to what is currently happening - the left.

Minneapolis City Council president, Dem Jeremiah Ellison claim they'll 'dismantle' police

Jeremiah Ellison, a Minneapolis city councilman and son of state Attorney General Keith Ellison, is calling for the "dismantling" of the Minneapolis Police Department following days of nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd -- and he soon got the support of the City Council's president.

"We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department," Jeremiah Ellison tweeted Thursday.

Jeremiah Ellison posted his remarks in response to a user asking if any elected officials were brave enough to take on the police in their city or state. Days after Floyd's death, he tweeted in support of Antifa, an anti-fascist movement comprised of loose-knit groups that have drawn criticism for physical violence against far-right supporters and figures.

"I hereby declare, officially, my support for ANTIFA," Jeremiah Ellison tweeted May 31. "Unless someone can prove to me ANTIFA is behind the burning of black and immigrant-owned businesses in my ward, I’ll keep focusing on stopping the white power terrorist THE ARE ACTUALLY ATTACKING US!"
