Until the we demilitarize the police force and truly make it an organization that "protects and serves" it's citizens instead of seeking and destroying them there will always be systemic racism within it. The problem is that any Bubba or Jimbo can become a cop and immediately be enabled to do whatever the hell they want to do because they're lauded as heroes from the outset despite accomplishing nothing.

Being a cop should be a privilege that only a handful of people can attain. It should be hard to become a cop. Trim the fat and cut it down to only an elite unit and spend the money in other areas that will actually help lift up society and not pin us down.

All protests are meant to get a reaction...... it is why people block roads instead of protest on the side of the road.... There are three things that you typically don’t mess with..... God, country, and family.... Kap knee he would get a reaction so that is why he did it.

It doesn't mean it's disrespectful to the country or vets or whomever.

Look at the statistic on black on black crime. I'm not deflecting. You are by dismissing the truth. Funny how you paint everyone that has a contrary opinion to you as a closet racist. How exactly does that help the conversation for change? It seems it's either your way or no way. Not exactly people working together. You don't want peaceful coexistence. You want your opinion to dominate. You want to force people to think like you rather than convince them to think like you. That's not equality. Hell, that's not freedom.

Haha what? I haven’t said any of these things. I’m fine with public opinion heading in Kaepernick’s direction, but I haven’t said anything about “forcing” people to adhere to a belief. I’m just also not going to kowtow to those in opposition and beg them to reconsider, which appears to be your idea of “convincing”

They feel it is very disrespectful..... I do as well..... not that I care anything about what Kap does bc he can stand, kneel, do the worm I don’t really care but my kids will be taught to stand and show respect for the flag.

Yeah I had posted an article about it somewhere on VN before. It's done thru the NPU system down here which are basically neighborhood (city neighborhood) HOAs. In terms of how far they want to control things.

This isnt what I was directly referencing but here is where Atlanta is fighting gentrification on the west side where the historically black neighborhoods are. Fearing gentrification, Atlanta mayor issues moratorium on development near Westside Park

Collier heights and some of the other surrounding neighborhoods are the ones doing this. Now dont get this wrong and take this as me saying these are bad neighborhoods. Some of them are doing as good as any of the mixed. But there are a couple that need any help they can get.

It's become an unspoken thing down here where our developers are pulling out of projects because of local push back.

It’s called whomever has the media’s side will always win the PR.

Trump could save a small family of ducklings and set them free. The media would spin it as Evil Trump kept ducklings captive only to set them free and potentially hurt the environment.

If it were Obama that went to the church you wouldn’t hear about the moving of the protesters and it would’ve been played up as his big moment.

The church is an iconic church that several presidents have worshipped at that was criminally burned down. I for one have to give it to him for going there to survey the damage and make a statement.

You can make assumptions about what he hears in the locker room but I cant? You arent going to find any coming out and saying this stuff. But willing to bet you would hear some of it in a locker room. Hence the possible confusion. Idk maybe Brees is insensitive but I dont see it being farfetched to say the talking points arent there.

You're as blind as Trump. You don't throw tear gas at a peaceful crowd just to clear a path for a photo op. Trump should have kept his fat arse in the bunker.

It basically means "anyone that disagrees with my narrow world view should shut up." It is an othering tactic that the far right is excellent at using.
