Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

Id prefer any of the top recruits go anywhere but UConn even if its South Carolina. Dawn is not in the same ballpark as Gino when it comes to maximizing an elite players potential and player development, in general. Fudd could go to South Car and never win a title, which isnt the case if she goes to uconn. It just wouldnt make an iota of sense for Fudd to be one of the 4 recent commits.
Crystal Dangerfield went to UConn and never won one. Just saying...🤷🏾‍♀️

Once.

Before that UConn 8 wins, South Carolina 0.

I don’t like UConn, but I can’t stand the new arrogant South Carolina.
I am a Lady Vol fan through and through, but it’s been a pleasure watching Dawn build something out of nothing. They deserve to be cocky...we’re coming for them though, we will knock them down a peg or two. Geno is insufferable, Dawn is nothing like him. I’ll take an SC fan over a UConn fan any day of the week.

Agreed. Geno is far scarier than Staley with elite talent. If Fudd joins Bueckers at UConn, we could be looking at a Bird/Taurasi level of domination all over again. Seriously...
Four of UCONN's five starters from just last year were top 5 recruits coming out of high school. Two overall #1s. Yet they struggled and/or lost to almost every ranked team they played. As long as other schools can recruit at or exceed the recruiting level of UCONN, their dominance won't be as prevalent as in the past, IMO.

u rite

Do other coaches give hints on social media about upcoming commits from recruits?
If Dawn lands four more top recruits in 2021 class, they will be a contender for years.
Realistically, who else besides UConn, South Carolina, Baylor and Stanford have a shot at a NC in the next four years? Texas. Oregon....

Yes....they do but they can not mention the names. Muschamp does a "spurs up" and Dawn does a "birdie in the nest". They never mention the names only that they have a commitment. The recruits them selves can say they committed but coaches can not.

It depends honestly... a lot can happen on 4 years. What about Louisville? We know Walz gets recruits. What about ND? While Ivey is an unknown she has gotten off to a hot start with recruits and has a pretty solid core. Brenda Freese and MD has suffered from some transfers but her team this year turned it around and had a legit shot at a final four. If Azzi stays home and adds to MD that could make them title contenders and that allure probably gets more talent with what Brenda already hauls in.

Then their is TN... We aren’t considered contenders in the next 4 years and rightfully so. However with the kids coming in I think this takes them up a level from a decent team to a good team. Who knows if there will be a program changer in this class or one of the following but if there is then that takes this team up too.

Lots of unknowns, but I think you’re teams like MS St, Oregon, and even NC State have shown that you can progress to play and at least make it a conversation about playing with the big boys.

Our own assistant does it. Now I think she has done it on the day the kids actually announce their commitments but I have seen this mutiple times.

Coaches and schools even recently got cleared by the NCAA to retweet what unsigned players say. So Kellie/UT retweeted Sara’s commitment.

But as the poster said nothing specific from coaches can be mentioned until the players sign.

We do!

Amani Bartlett longtime Tennessee commit to Syracuse. He has quite a class going up there.

Over the years Hillsman has been able to attract some elite players but he has never been able to do much with them. Syracuse WCBB has been mediocre for his entire tenure. He had one half way decent season in 2016 getting by SC and Tennessee before getting embarrassed by UConn in the Championship game.

Joni Taylor dropped one a couple days ago going all Gladys Knight & the Pips, resulting with a commitment by Kimora Jenkins the next day.

They lost three games, to the three best teams in the country. Not all recruiting classes/cycles are created equal. Breanna Stewart was a #1 player and lived up to the hype. So were Megan Walker and Christyn Williams, who are clearly not on the same level. Paige Bueckers is the best talent UConn has had since Stewart. And Fudd, if she goes to Storrs, is up there too. Those two, like Bird and Taurasi, will be the core of our Olympic backcourt for the next 10-15 years...

I fear we gave the Chasity belt keys to the wolf when Gino took over Team USA. Everyone will pay for that with 3-4 more years of UConn dominance then we will probably move to lamenting about Dawn, wait.....
