Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

I just seen on ESPN where kiffin interviewed for the clemson job last week. I wonder if he told them "let me see if i can get the UT job 1st"....

Have you realized that before this season, Texas Tech
had one of the worst defenses out there.Thats why they're undefeated because of Ruffin Mcneal their new DC.Tech had a great offense all along they just had a terrible defense to with it.

that defense is still giving up over 22 ppg and over 350 ypg. Yeah, that's a great defense.

I said great offense not defense, maybe if you would open your eyes you would see that.They don't have the best defense I know that, but its decent enough to keep them winning and thats all that matters.

no defense that gives that up will succeed in the SEC. The defense still sucks. It isn't good, it obviously isn't great. It still sucks.

If Leach ever wants to get out of Lubbock (and for his sake, I hope he wants to), he better go this year. He's a one year wonder and that's all he'll ever be.

he has, however, defeated 5 straight ranked opponents including 3 in the top 10

Once. He's done it one year and now he's a god? Look at his previous records. Just what I want, a coach that loses an average of over 4 games a year for 8 years, just to have one magical season. We could have kept Fulmer for that kind of production.

Well that one year wonder has rose offenses up to the top no matter where he's been.

remembering that he's doing it at Texas Tech would be keeping things in perspective however

Remember that he's doing it in the most football prospect rich state in the union. That keeps things in perspective as well.

fair enough, but Tech was a program more en par with Miss. St when he took over

Lubbock may be in Texas, but to a recruit in Dallas or Houston, Lubbock may as well be in Kansas

yeah, because there is no football talent in West Texas.

Are you remembering that he's coaching Texas Tech?They were a nobody until Leach showed up.He turned that program around regardless of what you say.

those bowl games in '93, '94, '95, '96 and '98 prove you wrong. Until this year, he was leading the Red Raiders into the same lame bowl games they played in the '90s.

Could have, would have, might have.

But didn't.

So you're not a Leach fan.

What Florida has done with Meyer is simply take over the SEC, and become a near-annual presence in the National Championship hunt.

There's another Meyer out there. I don't care how he spells his last name. We need to find him.

Go Vols.
You spell it - L E A C H !!

yeah, because there is no football talent in West Texas.

that's correct

Permian has a good program, but produces a minimal amount of prospect.
Nothing to speak of in Lubbock or Amarillo. El Paso is devoid of D1 talent. Abilene squirts out a player here and there.

95% of the football talent in Texas is Dallas, Houston and small towns in East Texas. San Antonio has an occasional prospect

you guys gotta be kidding..... see Auburn's crash and burn... I don't think anyone at UT is willing to wait 3-4 years before Leach has his spread in place.... plus honestly Leach doesn't come off as the one who'd gladly come kiss the babies and be that good of a guy in public around our big donors....

I say Kiffin... it has to be Kiffin.... we need young blood and energy!:lolabove:

In response to rexvol's post from another board.

To get to the point. I think the difference between Tech and Vol fans is the passion not the love of vol/tech football. In knoxville it is a event every Saturday. Here in Lubbock it is just another day to watch football.
As Rexvol stated football is KING. They really love football here in Texas, as they should.

one big difference, tech fans ram their field goal into the visitors section endangering lives and we just carry ours down Cumberland Ave. causing more traffic.

Guy's he's doing more with less at freakin Texas Tech. Good Lord do some research. You want to talk about titles and bowl appearances, but yet clamour for Kiffin. What the heck has he done as a collegiate head coach?

TT hasn't had a 5 star recruit or more than five 4 stars in a class in five years. The Big 12 this year is the best its been in years. TT is the best team in the Big 12. He recruits the entire state of Texas, and his top players have been from Houston and Dallas.

Getting a coach to bolt the Big 12 is pretty impressive considering how many times that has happened. The bad coaches never make it to or back to the next level and the good ones never leave there. Les Miles has won 11 games 3 years in a roll and TT is way better than any Miles team. It isn't like the Big 12 is Busch League and it beats the hell out of a guy from the MWC or Big East.

Unlike most "spreads" where the offense stretches the field long and short, TT's "spread" spreads the ball around to ever single playmaker. The best playmakers get the ball more than the other guys of course.

he gets to recruit in texas and before this year he's not done anymore than was there before he arrived.

Kiffin=maybe

Gruden=yes, but he's not coming

Davis=no

Patterson=no

Cowher=yes, but he's not coming

Brewster=HECK NO!

Sarkisian=yes

Muschamp=no

Vernables=no

Leach is a way better hire than any of these guys except for Gruden,Cowher, and maybe Kiffin.You've got to be out of your mind if you would take any of those guys over Leach.:wacko:
Leach better than Davis? :crazy: Patterson? :blink:

Yeah, he's getting the leftovers from Texas, Oklahoma, and OSU and is beating them. He might be "strange", but saying he isn't a good coach is rediculous. Again everybody wants Kiffin, and he has alot of unknowns compared to Leach. Why is it that he gets a pass?
