Seems obvious that if after all the investigation he was subject to from intel agencies through Mueller that lying to the FBI was all they could find: they were worried about him for some reason other than criminal activity.

It is no secret that Flynn was quite at odds with Obama policy choices and was quite vocal about them. Not unreasonable to assume he was going to be a force for change.

I'll check but I believe there were other issues that might expose his son. Also, the threat of prosecution doesn't mean the prosecution would be based on solid information. And I didn't say it was the "only" reason he took the plea. It was among the reasons reportedly.

Logic suggests that if Mueller had this on him he wouldn't dump it for a lying plea unless Flynn could help him nail bigger fish. As we know, no other fish were nailed - Flynn had little to offer. Further, we know from the timeline that Mueller knew that at the time of offering the plea - there just wasn't a there there.

Looks more like going after Scooter Libby to get something from the investigation even though Libby wasn't the leaker.
