Who is going to staff them?
The furloughed hospital medical staff of the staff from the nursing home who would have been attending them. Despite what the MSM and Fauci would like for us to believe our medical communities were not taxed. Some locations were strained but even in NYC there were more than enough staff to treat everyone with excess. Have you not heard the stories about the "Travel" workers that spent their entire contract time in hotel rooms?

I don't know. Did they build field hospitals and not staff them?
The field hospitals I saw around the country were staffed with military but emergency medical personnel are not going to house and take care of medically stable patients during a pandemic especially. Too many logistical issues, who is responsible for them? who would pay for it? would insurance pull their nursing home funds? they couldn't give meds? Taking emergency medical workers from regular hospital patients, etc.

yes but there is a difference in how hospitals, physician groups and medicare/medicaid PAYS and GET PAID for treating patients, Joint Commission and CMS regulations would not allow for this, and no medical team members are going to do this long term on a volunteer without pay basis. You are basically asking them to create volunteer only nursing homes, where the patients aren't sick, they cant give most medical care, they just need to be separated form other nursing home patients.

The nursing homes will be going out of business anyway because they'll lose all their patients to death.
And I'm sure that hospital administrators would be more than inventive enough to find a "case" to keep those patients in the hospital until they are no longer a carrier/threat if they really wanted to.

But they can’t. We have regular patients too. It’s not logistical, cost effective, or legal to do what you’re proposing
