Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Nursing homes aren't setup to take care of a covid patient. They are setup to infect everyone in it if they're moved there.
Where are we suppose to send those kind of patients that are medically stable but covid positive..... every facility had a plan but it spreads even more than they imagined.... I like the governor of the state I live ins plan but even then people complain about it.

I agree a few week shutdown was necessary in the beginning to get a handle on things. I don't agree we need to still be doing it. I would be willing to bet those in favor of reopening feel the same way.

Are you in favor or reopening now? If not...then why and what threshold should we be waiting for?

This is what every politician against reopening should be forced to answer. Put them on record.

To one of the empty ward beds in the hospital? To one of the makeshift hospitals, to an empty hospital turned into a Covid only nursing home in a rural area (they are everywhere).....but you don't send them while still positive. Any medical professional who didn't recognize this was an asinine idea should have all their opinions ignored.
We had enough warning from cruise ships what could happen in enclosed spaces with the elderly.... and the cruise ship passengers were typically healthy enough to travel.

They wouldn't ever give a straight answer, it would be something like "whenever the science allows us to" aka "whenever I the dictator of my state/city feel like letting you little people out"

Pelosi disagrees
Then she was undeniably wrong.

At that point, we didn’t know how bad this was going to be, but the first 10
Pages of this thread show that people should have seen “bad” coming.

Travel bans allowed us to buy time to get ready for it. I don’t think we did that well enough, but taking those measures was a good first step in a situation where we didn’t have the benefit of hindsight.

The answer I agree to is that they should have made a strictly covid unit and moved healthy residents out like my state did...There are issues that bc you have to move family members away and families are pretty mad about that but at least they are safe.... Hospitals or makeshift hospitals probably weren’t utilized bc they were expecting medically complex patients to fill those wards.... creating extra centers to care strictly residents is difficult bc most areas don’t have the staffing necessary to fill those positions.

Hospitals aren't set up to care for medically stable patients "just because", they aren't hotels....they are not and should not hold patients just because they have Covid
