Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I think that 90% figure was true at one point, but that is no longer true. I think any partisan media is just as bad for America, whether left or right, but both sides are insanely well funded and overrun with partisan sources at this point.

We can all quibble with the graphic below, but there is a good amount of that which is correct.

This is hog wash. How did they

Hog wash. How did their employees vote. With the advent of talk radio and Fox news the percentages are still staggeringly left

Have been wondering today what China’s relationship with the rest of the world will be after this is all over.

There’s no doubt they want to unseat the United States as the sole super power in the world - they couldn’t in a direct war, but they’ve had help with a virus (not saying China intentionally released) and the US committing economic suicide.

Who knows what the next few years will hold?

How many friends do you think China made with this fiasco?

None, really. That’s what’s making me think.

If, and that’s a big if, but if it comes out that China intentionally released the virus, a military response from the US and allies would ensue.
Nope. The only thing that will happen is a massive pull out of trade with China. No more theft of our property, very little trade, China crapped in their own dinner plate and they don't know it yet.

That would essential be economic war on China. Would be great for the world. I know Japan is trying to do that in the next few years.

None of the western governments ours included will ever admit it if China intentionally released the virus. There would be war.

Well, of course by definition its subjective. Someone far right is going to view NPR, not as centrist, but far left. They might also view Fox as centrist.

Someone far left is not going to view Fox as simply a bit right of center. They are going to view it as far right.
I found the distinction they drew between, say, CNN on line versus commentary, or Fox on line versus commentary, as somehow meaningful. My concern with that is that it seems to me that most people watching either say, MSNBC or Fox, is not sitting there, and when the commentary part comes on, switches their thinking from "this is news" to "this is spin."

I daresay that if you asked Fox viewers, they'd claim that a fair amount of Hannity's content they view as "news." Same with Maddow.

Maybe both should voluntarily start such shows with a disclaimer, "this is not part of our news segment, its commentary." Something like that. Just make people aware there is a transition occuring as to its information value.
All news is commentary. At some point you have to, at a minimum, vet the stories you decide to publish or not publish, which is a form of commentary.

Not to get off the rails, but I think as a society we will have to reach a point where currency, news, censorship, etc are all run on heavily encrypted AI.

There's just too much power that falls right into the lap of special interests, and it's only going to get worse. Tech nerds who have never been laid literally sit at Google and Facebook and get to decide what's true or not.

Remarks by President Trump and Vice President Pence at a Meeting with Governor Reynolds of Iowa | The White House

SIAP:

THE PRESIDENT: So the media likes to say we have the most cases, but we do, by far, the most testing. If we did very little testing, we wouldn’t have the most cases. So, in a way, by doing all of this testing, we make ourselves look bad. For instance, they would say we have more than China. I don’t think so. We have more than other countries. I don’t think so.
Like most of what Trump says there is truth mixed in with the rest of that incoherent babble.

For me, it’s not so much that he’s babbling. Testing is essential for accurately determining the extent of the virus‘s spread. Who gives a **** how it “makes us look?” Why is that even a thought in his head?
