remind me what he's won again. Are you actually referring to individual games as career defining for the man. That should give you a proper answer about whether we want him at UT.
What are you talking about? Beating an 8-4 Oklahoma team starting a freshman quarterback in Lubbock, on two calls so bad the Big 12 office issued an apology to OU, was huge. Kind of like beating a Mike Shula coached Alabama team. Oh, that's right. Shula beat them.

Ok answer this...What has Kiffin won?...Wait I'll answer this one...5 games...Oh yeah, Let's hire him...How about Muschamp?...Zero...Never been a HC...Kelly could be a decent one...Davis isn't coming, staying realistic and not living the fantasy that just because he says no it means ask me again...He's said it twice...so, From what i can see so far, Leach is CLEARLY the best candidate out there...he's the only one who could turn us around quickly...He turned Texas Tech around...TEXAS TECH!:clapping:

You do realize Pitt and Michigan State are both going to bowl games, don't you? Which bowls are Eastern Washington and SMU performing in?

Wow, it only took him into his ninth year to cobble together a defense. Let's snatch him up now.

I agree with you regarding his defense but I like Leach over other candidates right now because we need points.

We already have a good enough defense that will improve when they aren't forced to play 9/10ths of everygame.

If Leach came here, wouldn't it be in his best interest to keep Chavis and the D intact and just worry about the offense? Would that not also appease fans that are not happy with Hamilton?

I do not know if this is realistic but what is the possibilty that when Leach comes to UT, he brings all his offensive staff with him? Or at least most of them. As in a package deal?

What would be involved? UT buying out all of their remaining contracts?

Are their examples of this happening at other schools?

If we get Leach and Leach alone, I say no way.
He needs to bring some help with him or stay home.

What are Kiffin's accomplishments again? He spent two years at USC sending Reggie Bush on wheel routes!
Let's put it this way. In five years, Lane Kiffin will be winning conference titles at a BCS school or back in the NFL. Leach will have been fired by whatever school is stupid enough to promote him above the level of his competence. I'll be glad to wager any amount anyone would like on that. Kiffin is Jon Gruden 15 years ago. Mike Leach is Hal Mumme 10 years ago.

Are referencing the Pitt team that beat the South Florida squad that defeated Kansas?

You do realize Pitt and Michigan State are both going to bowl games, don't you? Which bowls are Eastern Washington and SMU performing in?
Bowl eligibility means nothing.. you only have to win 6 games. And pitt plays in the big east.. good grief my high school could be bowl eligible in the big east. my comment about losing to them wasn't about those being bad schools.. only that i didn't realize they had lost to both of them. Dont get me wrong I would love to have NW coach. i just like Leach better, the sec (especially the east with florida and UGA) has so much speed. Even high schools down here (suburbia ATL) are geared more toward speed. So IMO recruiting would be better with a coach that utilizes that.

I understand the way you believe in coach Kiffin, I happen to think he will be a good coach too. Its just the fact that you argued against Leach because he doesn't have enough "skins" on the wall to coach at Tenn. By that same token neither does Kiffin, you're just going on a hunch with him. You are entitiled to hunches but call a spade a spade.

In 5 years is the key phrase here, we need to win now because our fan base and boosters are to impatient to wait that long. I don't know what to think anymore and it don't really matter what we think because we have zero say so. All we can do is trust in Hamilton's decision whether we agree with the hire or not.

I freaking lived in TX for a few years and am well aware of the geography. He doesn't have to recruit in Houston.

How far is he from Midland, Odessa, Dallas, etc.

having lived in Texas, I'm sure you're aware of the built in recruiting disadvantages that saddled the program that Leach took over

You're also probably aware that Midland/Odessa is rich on high school tradition, yet relatively poor on actual collegiate prospects

Dallas is 360 miles from Lubbock. Not terribly far by Texas standards.
Perhaps that helped Leach recruit his 2 Heisman candidates from the Metroplex

Kiffin hasn't been in a head coaching position in D-I and failed to reach as much as a conference title game or BCS bowl in 8 full seasons. Leach has.

We wil give Kiffin 5 years

We will not give Leach 5 years

Tennessee isn't winning more than 8 regular season games next year under any circumstance. Fans with a decent grounding in reality know that.

agree with that. but then again i would have travelled 100000000 miles to play for UT! A fan can always dream....
