Yeah, a difference maker whose average year is 8-4.can Mike Leach win big at Tennessee?
is he one of the few coaches out there who is a true difference maker?
let's see
Tech has won 12 games in a row (longest streak in the nation)
Tech has won 21 of their last 25 games
Tech has 5 wins in a row vs. Top 25 teams including #1, #2 & #9
How much of that was attributed to "coaching his players up"?
Crabtree had one other offer out of high school - to play DB for Kansas
Harrell was a 4 star recruit out of high school - a nice pick up
Eric "The Elf" Morris was a 2-star West Texas midget not even on the recruiting radar or other schools
The remainder of the roster is significantly comprised of players never offered by the "old money" schools in the Big 12
can the man coach?
show me any coach anywhere at any school in the country who gets more out of his players
show me any coach anywhere in the country who has a more precisely executing team than his
Mike Leach is, bar none, the biggest difference maker amongst the NCAA coaching ranks
but let's let ourselves be frightened off because he's not in the mold of a traditional Tennessee coach. Meanwhile, we can watch his West Texas freckled faced midget cotton farming players beat the snot out of ranked opponents

You ever heard of Darrius Heyward-Bey?
I sure have. Too bad he plays in Maryland's horrid offense. He is an incredible downfield threat as well as an incredible player in the open field if he gets the ball with space to move. He'd be putting up Crabtree's numbers +50 yards/1 TD per game playing under Mike Leach. Kid is 6'2 and runs a legit 4.35
Yeah and if he had a halfway decent QB his numbers would be through the roof. He's still managed over 16 ypc and almost 500 yards receiving. If he leaves, which he should, he's easily a first rounder.
He isn't averaging 10 wins a season. Until this year, his results weren't measurably difference than what Spike Dykes did at the end of his tenure in Lubbock. I love how the Leach shills are acting like he's doing this at Baylor.if we can hire a coach who can take over a perennial underdog Texas Tech program and average 10 wins per year instead of 8, then let's hire his a$$ today
Leach will average over 10 wins over the past 2 seasons by January. things actually do take time
Gary Barnett had two years where he averaged 10 wins a season at Northwestern, which is roughly 15,699 times more difficult to do in Evanston than it is in Lubbock. Guess Tennessee should hire him.if we can hire a coach who can take over a perennial underdog Texas Tech program and average 10 wins per year instead of 8, then let's hire his a$$ today

true, very true, however i do believe that teams like Mizzou(which i'm not sure off the top of my head if he's played) Texas A&M, and Kansas are better than Minnesota, Iowa etc of the Big 10.Taking Oklahoma and Texas out of the equation, the Big 12 hasn't been any better during Leach's tenure. He's still found a way to lose 4 games a year.
I bet if you take the records of Missouri, Kansas and Texas A&M for the time Leach has been in Lubbock and compare them to, say, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Iowa, the results aren't that different.true, very true, however i do believe that teams like Mizzou(which i'm not sure off the top of my head if he's played) Texas A&M, and Kansas are better than Minnesota, Iowa etc of the Big 10.

that is true.. but the teams that Mizzou, kansas and A&M play are alot tougher. so those losses aren't as bad as Michigan State, Minnesota or Iowa.I bet if you take the records of Missouri, Kansas and Texas A&M for the time Leach has been in Lubbock and compare them to, say, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Iowa, the results aren't that different.
Look at the laughable nonconference schedules Kansas and Missouri typically play. Losing to Kansas is no better than losing to Iowa. They're both mediocre.that is true.. but the teams that Mizzou, kansas and A&M play are alot tougher. so those losses aren't as bad as Michigan State, Minnesota or Iowa.
